The College Sports Commission is investigating an LSU athlete for potential NIL rules violations, The Athletic reported Friday. The inquiry is one of the first of its kind for the CSC.
Under terms of the landmark House settlement, which received final approval last summer and paved the way for the CSC’s launch, third-party NIL deals worth more than $600 must be reported to the NIL Go clearinghouse. The investigation into the LSU athlete centers on potential unreported compensation, according to The Athletic.

During this past transfer portal window, the College Sports Commission issued new guidance reminding schools about third-party NIL deals. The CSC released its updated guidance Jan. 9 and said “some schools should expect to hear” from the commission the following week. According to The Athletic, the CSC reached out to LSU on Jan. 15.
In addition, the CSC expressed “concern” about some deal terms being floated amid the player movement. It also reiterated the rules about NIL Go, including that deals must be reported within five days of execution.
“Without prejudging any particular deal, the CSC has serious concerns about some of the deal terms being contemplated and the consequences of those deals for the parties involved,” the guidance read. “Making promises of third-party NIL money now and figuring out how to honor those promises later leaves student-athletes vulnerable to deals not being cleared, promises not being able to be kept, and eligibility being placed at risk.”

Wonder if a court of law will uphold a CSC ruling that a player can’t play because a player and a 3rd party made an NIL deal the CSc didn’t like,

Are they trying to say LSU will not honor their contracts?
frick right off. Oh yeah, and good luck by the NCAA trying to enforce "market value for athletes" whatever the hell that means because market value is whatever a company thinks their endorsement value is marketing wise when it comes to NIL. They have no teeth here and they can't tell an athlete what he can/can't make on endorsements. If they even attempt to they will get sued and lose.

This is like the accounting department telling the CEO they’re putting too much on the company credit card.

Who cares? Really what are they going to do. It will be a big nothing burger!
I bet the rest of the SEC melt though. They'll claim we were cheating but its simply a reporting issue not a cheating scandal. The outcome will be minor infraction if anything at all.
It is funny how LSU seems to be the target all the time. Basketball schools did it and Wade got busted. Nothing happened to the other well-known coaches.
Geaux Tigers! Come get us. No Flinch here!

And it is an organization that per their own website does not enforce eligibility.
This is absolutely nothing
