Do you have more tomboys or girly girls in your family?

It’s mostly girly girls in my family. My mom, sister, aunts, and both grandmothers were all quite feminine. My aunt ont my dad’s side was especially feminine and even elegant.

There was lots of focus on the women being ladylike and being nurturing towards the rest of the family. They took care of most of the duties when it came to to caring for the children.

My sister was actually a tomboy growing up who would play outside a lot, play football, and dig up earthworms with the boys. However, she became very girly and prissy as she matured.

My wife is one of the only tomboys in the family. She’ll watch football, make crude jokes, etc.

What’s it like in your family?

The preferred nomenclature is now "trans."

I have a boring family. My sisters are normal girls. I am a normal guy.

Go one step outside, it is normal boys and girls. Go two normal. Everyone in our family lives into their 80s, everyone has 2-3 kids, one divorce in the entire family, college educated is expected, everyone is upper middle class normal.

The only break from normalcy we had was a first cousin who OD'd. Shook us up. Still hard to discuss. He was a tennis player D1 who got into a bad car accident his sophomore year. Drunk driver hit his truck driving in icy conditions in TN. He busted his leg bad enough to lose his playing career and his girlfriend died on impact. The drunk driver was of course uninjured. He got into a bad space with drugs and alcohol and then the night came. Sucks writing this. Even the families that look perfect deal with shite.

My daughter is a healthy mix of both... very girly and nurturing and awesome but can change a tire or change the oil in a flash.

Granddaughter is a mix too- total princess but makes all the fart jokes.

We watch football in dresses, catch all the fish but not clean them even though we know how, go to church and tell you to go to hell, eat on china with all the right silverware or eat bbq on a paper plate, go to a gala or go to a swap meet, hunt but the camp must have a normal bathroom and satellite TV, we can drive the trailer and launch the boat but we are not changing a tire if one of the guys is around... we are a well rounded bunch.

Tom boys. We were always a sports family. My sisters played softball. My aunts played slow pitch with a bunch of friends; My grandfather was their manager. My older daughter is all about art. My younger daughter is a soccer natural.

Were they tomboys to the extreme? Like the kind who spit on the ground and fart in front of each other?

Or just sports-loving but feminine in other ways?

Sisters and mom are definitely girly girls but all love watching sports and are pretty dang knowledgeable. Can actually talk ball with them so that’s fun. Best of both worlds, I’m a lucky son and brother

My wife is very reserved. I’ve only heard her cuss a handful of times in my life as it’s trashy when anyone just cusses up a storm, shows lack of intelligence. She also not forthcoming with her opinions like 99.9% of women, she’s quiet and very intelligent.

My daughters are a mixed bag of us. Not sure if that’s good or bad yet.

Our family wants everyone to participate in sports/arts along with maintaining a high gpa and charity. Those are the expectations from the man down. We are definitely military in organization from my father down.

Tomboys are underrated though. Need these women. They are the ones that get out there and help when shite gets tough.

And if you could, I’m not sure I know a Baw that would let you attempt to launch their boat. So still don’t believe you tho

My son was more impressed when he learned I could handle a dirt bike

SS maybe my pawpaw had more money than yours or was not sexist, I don't know. He was equal opportunity on showing everyone how to drive a trailer, launch the boat, drive the boat, drive the tractor, ride horses, ride motorbikes, and ride three/four wheelers.

My wife was a tomboy and so is my daughter. Wife played all sorts of sports and was a college athlete. My daughter is both maybe? Idk. She plays soccer and softball but it is not super competitive about it like my son who is the athlete of the too. My daughter plays like she has an older brother but is obsessed with all things princesses. I feel that is pretty normal for a girl that age.

We have an even split. We have some that hunt and fish and we have some that play with barbies and some that do both.
