How am I supposed to believe that braindead zombies who can do no more than drunkenly stumble around aimlessly could take over the world and crash the entire planet?

They’d have been handled in a month, maybe.

2 Weeks of quarantine to stop the spread, huh?

Slow zombies aren't that intimidating. Oh no, I have to jog away for a few minutes.

After the initial shock, which would kill a lot of people, the people left should be able to figure it out.

Long sharp things and bullets. Boxes and boxes off 22 bullets is all you need. Then stay in groups to defend each other, be patient, and don’t be stupid.

I know most people quit watching, but the later seasons prove pretty dramatically that we were watching a bunch of idiots for a decade. People all over the world had functioning societies going while Rick’s crew bumbled around making bad decisions.

Exactly.

Now, the World War Z zombies or I Am Legend zombies would be a huge problem.

But the zombies from the walking dead would have been pretty easily taken out.

one thing that always had me worked up was SPOILER *****

if everybody had the virus in them like Dr Bruce Jenner told Rick at the end of S1 and anybody who died would become a zombie then how come if they got bit they'd become a zombie if the virus was already all up in their shite?

The show lost me when it became clear that people who turned into zombies would decay normally as if they were dead... but only to a certain point, that point being, "the point at which they look the zombie-est." The show continued months and then years after the initial outbreak when most everyone was dead, and yet there were still huge hordes of zombies wandering about looking exactly the same as they did when the show started.

..oh, and when the guy with the tiger showed up. That also caused me to roll my eyes and stop watching.

It was latent until you died. Getting bitten gave you an actual infection that killed you (and quickly)

This is always the limiting factor with zombie content

Wasn't the whole point of the show was that it wasn't the zombies that were the real threat, but the living?

Realistically, how long could zombies walk around for before they decayed to the point the legs just broke apart, or their brains spilled out of their skulls? Especially in the humid south.

There are lots of great shows and movies built on really obviously flawed premises so I wouldn't worry about that too much.

A shakey premise is the least of The Walking Deads plethora of major problems.
