What could be a realistic valuation of a SUCCESSFULL LSU MBB program?

Would an investment of a high end salary toward one of the better coaches in the country pay off in terms of profit, or is LSU just a football school that would not see worthwhile return on the investment?

yes, but basketball is a revenue sport and having a decent program would add to the bottom line, it would be sort of like icing on the cake

Texas and Ohio State make sense as brands, but both have pretty mediocre basketball teams.
Texas as a program is decent, but ohio state's is pure arse.

I think so, I was at LSU when Dale started putting together some pretty good teams, the PMAC(Assembly Center then,) was a rocking place, the time we beat UK in double OT when they were #1, undefeated, and all of our starters had fouled out was one of the greatest LSU sporting events I've ever attended, the place was an absolute jam packed madhouse

Let’s not forget that LSU was apart of 3 out of the top 4 highest attended regular season basketball games of all time. Get a good coach who will win consistently and the crowds will be there.

For the sake of argument we will include UNC, Arkansas, Michigan State, Illinois, and Indiana.
How many of those remaining can support a top baseball program?
Texas, Arkansas, and UNC
How many of those remaining can support a top WBB program?
Texas and UNC
How many of those remaining can support a top gymnastics program?
None
Point is something has to give. Money is finite. We need to cut WBB and give the money to MBB and Baseball where MBB can at least turn it into profit

If LSU was able to make 2.5 million last year with how pathetic we were in basketball (along with the profits the previous 3 years), imagine what we could make with a competitive program with large crowds, etc.
A successful men's basketball program to me is one that makes the NCAA tourney consistently (that brings the crowds and excitement for March). A really successful program is one that makes the tourney, challenges for SEC titles and makes deep runs in the tourney challenging for a national championship. And that should not seem impossible at all.
LSU's basketball atmosphere was once so great that the NCAA stopped letting teams host regionals in the NCAA tourney due to LSU's home court advantage after they snuck in the tourney in 1986, hosted, and then knocked off all those top seeds in 1986.
Look at Auburn and Bama. Auburn had a terrible, boring program forever and now has one of the best atmospheres in basketball. Bama was lackluster for years. Now they make the tourney consistently and make deep runs in the tourney. If they did it, we can do it and we should.

That was the first LSU game I attended as a young Tigah and began my lifelong LSU fandom.

WW set a standard I believe we should seek. Always finish in the top 4 of the SEC and make the NCAA. If we do that, our attendance will be very good (10K plus on average and more for SEC games)

1) Those are revenues, not valuations
2) LSU will NEVER be anywhere near the likes of the top 3
