McMahon owed 80% of remaining contract when fired. Who does Verge call to pay it?

Runs through 2028-29. Probably close to $6-8m.

Monthly payments through end of contract minus his future earnings. Not gonna be that bad.

"Future earnings?" I predict that wont be more than $250K a year as an asst at a midmajor.

There MAY be a clause in Mcnutt’s contract about the AD leaving. And he left. Something along those lines.

I'm beginning to wonder if the NCAA planted him here as the real sanction...

It is not owed upfront. It is paid out monthly over the remaining term and offset by any Basketball revenue he earns.

The reality is we cannot afford to keep him. The revenue generated by a successful program would easily pay the monthly expense left on his contract.

You can’t afford not to fire him at this point.

And yes, the financial support is there and a target has been identified and there is complete “alignment” to get it done.

Scott Woodward should have to personally pay for it.

I’d love to see a fun men’s basketball team again. But I think it’s time we all accept that our admins don’t care about men’s basketball as much as we think they do. McMahon will probably get another year or two, regardless of outcomes. They just aren’t gonna put money towards this right now

If Woodward was still here I might agree. Verge is going to want to make his mark. I’m sure he wants to get this basketball hire right.
