Simon Williams was great. That guy is a great actor. The character is obviously race-swapped, but he doesn't play Simon as a black man. . .just as a man. Very well cast and his portrayal is universally relatable.
This wasn't a James Gunn laugh fest, there is real gravity and depth to the show,
Keep in mind, it is the story of Simon Williams trying to be an actor in a role that is personal to him, while hiding his real self from everyone. And how truly despicable Hollywood is. No real superhero shite until episode 8.
I hope this is what the MCU will become post-Gunn/Waititi
episodes are about 30 mins, easy watch.
Slow burn, but enjoyable ride

I watched up to the Doorman episode. I like it so far. Going to watch some more in bed tonight.

That’s where I am as well. I heard Ep 5 is probably the best of the season so I want to knock that one out tomorrow

Can Disney finally be learning lessons here?

it is well done. writing and production all good to very good. episodes are short with no waste/nonsense.
one of the better short form dramedies i've seen in a while.
both leads excellent.
poor josh gad
ding-dong!

Thanks for the plug. Currently 5 eps in and am enjoying it a lot. I thought the previews looked pretty meh, but some positive talk on it got me to give it a shot. I know absolutely nothing about WM as a comics character, so any swap didn’t really register at all. Still not sure of his whole power set. The main guy is pretty great, and Ben Kingsley is a damn fine actor too. It is a trip to see multiple characters recognize Trev as the Mandarin and just kind of laugh it off.

Binged it today. Really.enjoyed it. First 5 episodes are great. Petered off a little towards the end for me but for me this has been the first Disney thing I've watched a whole season of since S1 of Mandalorian.

Currently enjoying the hell out of it.

I don’t understand why Marvel Disney can’t make more of these “small” programs like Werewolf by Night and Wonder Man. This series was so enjoyable and so free of the continuity overload that weighs down other efforts. I fricking hated the film Mandarin and now I love the current Slattery.

Maybe it’s because Disney released all the episodes at once but I enjoyed this way more than I expected. I don’t know if a second season is in the works but I hope it is.

They felt they had "the formula"
Same shite with Lucasfilms. At least we got Andor out of it.

He was my favorite Avenger when I was reading comics almodt 50 years ago but I was never completely clear on his power set.
Is this book spoiler territory? I'll delete.if people think I should. Book Simon was super strong, invulnerability level well beyond bullet proof, not capable of independent flight but could strap rocket thrusters to his belt without being burned. In later years he reverted to a being of pure ionic energy who was apparently much more powerful but I had discovered girls by that point. And he was best friends with Beast (Hank McCoy).

I watched the whole thing today. I’m interested to see where it leads.
