Alex Pretti was known to Federal officers

This article is trying to lay it out like the Fed was illegally collecting people's information when the truth clearly is that the Fed was tracking potentially dangerous agitators

Federal immigration officers have been collecting personal information about protesters and agitators in Minneapolis, sources told CNN – and had documented details about Alex Pretti before he was shot to death on Saturday.
It is unclear how Pretti first came to the attention of federal authorities, but sources told CNN that about a week before his death, he suffered a broken rib when a group of federal officers tackled him while he was protesting their attempt to detain other individuals.
In a statement, the Department of Homeland Security said that “DHS law enforcement has no record of this incident.”
A memo sent earlier this month to agents temporarily assigned to the city asked them to “capture all images, license plates, identifications, and general information on hotels, agitators, protestors, etc., so we can capture it all in one consolidated form,” according to correspondence reviewed by CNN.

“When our law enforcement encounter a violent agitator who is breaking the law, obstructing law enforcement or assaulting them, our law enforcement make records to advance prosecution. This is not ground breaking, it is standard protocol,” said DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin in a statement.
The earlier incident started when he stopped his car after observing ICE agents chasing what he described as a family on foot, and began shouting and blowing his whistle, according to a source who asked not to be named out of fear of retribution.
Pretti later told the source that five agents tackled him and one leaned on his back – an encounter that left him with a broken rib. The agents quickly released him at the scene.
“That day, he thought he was going to die,” said the source.
Pretti was later given medication consistent with treating a broken rib, according to records reviewed by CNN.

Earlier this month, a DHS official in Minneapolis sent a memo to Immigration and Customs Enforcement Homeland Security Investigations officers assigned to the state on temporary duty asking them to use a form to input information on protesters and agitators.
The form — titled “intel collection non-arrests” — allows agents to fill in personal information of agitators and protesters who they encounter. It’s not clear whether other agencies in Minnesota are also using the form.
Previously, agents had informally shared information about protesters and agitators with each other, the memo said.
Pretti’s name was known to federal agents, according to a source – though it’s unclear whether the new intake form was used to share his information.

This sounds like a Redditor describing a wet dream

I read that a week or so back there was an altercation between Pretti and I.C.E. that left Pretti with broken ribs.
Talk about slow learing !

Wow! Hats off to that dude. I’ve had a broken rib - well ribs and I am not grappling with 1/2 a dozen LEOs a week later.
Dude must have had a serious tolerance for pain.

He had a broken rib from finding out and wouldn’t heed his family’s advice to not be a moron. What a loon.

Of course he was.
Normal people don't assault law enforcement trying to do their jobs.

Many mentally challenged individuals have a high tolerance for pain

This also further illustrates how at fault Walz and the mayor are for standing down all MN law enforcement from assisting the feds. Because they had to deal with these people alone, 2 of them were killed. Had they had LEO backup, it may have ended differently because the locals would have handled the enforcement of crowd control and let the feds to their job. Again, you won't hear that angle being talked about but it is a major factor in how this got out of hand. Big shock.

I think the reporting is trying to distract that they knew him because he has gotten into a physical altercation with ICE previously.

No one sees a problem with this statement. It's laughable the hypocrisy

They were collecting information on people that were obstructing which is a crime. Stop complaining that they had the identities collected instead of being thrown in jail like they should be.

You know why I don't have to worry about being on a Fed list?

Like I said, the ATF is going to have a field day with this the next time there’s a Democratic president. And yes, I’ll still be speaking out against it then too, because it’s wrong regardless of who’s in power.
It’s not hard to see how this logic gets abused:
“ATF declares refusal to register a firearm as obstruction.”
“ATF collects data on gun owners accused of trying to hide firearm ownership.”
Framing constitutionally protected activity as “obstruction” is exactly how rights get eroded.

Impeding LEO is not the same as simply protesting but you know that and are being disingenuous

As someone who has had broken ribs - no way he is fighting LEOs or even raising his hands that freely a week later.
Unless, of course, he had access to some serious pain medication. Any toxicology tests planned?
