What outdoor board TD ballers we have that are in the know? Some people I’ve talked to said MDWFP could be extending the areas that end on Saturday to Feb. 15th.

I thought sure they would announce extending the season through the rest of the weekend, but the fact that they haven’t already doesn’t bode well.

Last year they announced it immediately after their monthly commission meeting, presumably because they voted on it while in session. That meeting for this month happened ten days ago.

The season is already liberal as hell, why are they extending it?

They extended in 2 days last year so a lot people are just holding out hope they do the same.

MDWFP also released an article yesterday that many in the state may have been seeing less deer this year which could be impacting the number of harvests’.

We are way down on our doe numbers this year so I’d welcome an extension to get a few more does. But like previous poster said, I feel like they would have announced it already.

From what I’ve heard it’s because not enough deer were taken due to the weather and incredibly huge acorn crop

my wife was already fed up when the season closed in area 2 Louisiana.

To be honest, I was worn out too.

Agree. Wouldn’t surprise me at all. They’ve been pleading with folks for the last 5 years to kill more deer and I think this season is running below 75% of normal.

I’d take advantage of it but it would cut into my habitat work season.

I know this. October until Christmas I was wondering if there were any deer around. Once that flash flood wiped out all the acorns it looks like deer Disney world. They need to extend it to take more deer out.

It needs to be shut down Saturday as advertised. Quit screwing with the season dates, if you haven’t killed a deer in MS by now you won’t.

The season in my area needs to open 15-20 days later and stay open 15-20 days later but that’s for another discussion.

How do you know I won’t kill a deer if the season gets extended? I’ve got 2 in the freezer and have lots of pics of bucks coming to my corn and plots. It’s gonna be cold so I want to sit in my box with my heater looking at corn and rice bran for a couple more weeks

Why? There's a ridiculous amount of deer in MS.

My guess would be not killing enough deer

That’s bold coming from someone who calls hunting shooting deer running for their lives cause dogs are chasing them.

I had a pretty good year this year so try again.

I’ve also shot the right side of antlers off a bucks head, that was on accident though.

And yeah, dog hunters wait for the perfect shot too.

Of course we all want a clean kill but I’ll do what I have to do to break him down for a follow up shot.
