It seems like incompetence and dishonesty do not keep you from getting six figure jobs...

This superintendent was hired by a Georgia school district and give a raise while under investigation at hie previous job.

Documents obtained by WSB-TV detail the scope of Horton's spending, which included: $11,000 during a single visit to Sam's Club, $8,700 on one check at Jason's Deli, $4,500 and $3,100 during two visits to Bambinelli's Italian Restaurant, $3,000 at Honey Baked Ham and $2,600 charged in a single transaction at Chick-fil-A.

In total, Horton spent more than $120,000 on the District's purchasing card in just two years.

quote:

Horton resigned from DeKalb County Schools in October, just weeks after his federal indictment became public despite having received a contract extension months earlier that raised his salary to $360,000 and extended his term through 2028.

Horton's spending in Georgia surfaced after he was indicted in October 2025 by a federal grand jury in Chicago on 17 felony counts, including wire fraud, embezzlement and tax evasion.

quote:

Prosecutors allege that while serving as superintendent of Evanston-Skokie School District 65 in Illinois he issued more than $280,000 in contracts to three longtime associates between 2020 and 2023 and received more than $80,000 in kickbacks in return.

The indictment further alleges Horton stole more than $30,000 from the Illinois district by using a purchasing card to buy personal meals, gift cards, vehicle expenses and travel, and then failed to report the income on his tax returns.

Horton pleaded not guilty to all charges with his next status hearing in Illinois scheduled for February 4. He faces more than 10 years if convicted.

Last week, Horton was arrested in Georgia on charges of cruelty to children in the third degree and aggravated assault using strangulation, according to DeKalb County officials.

He was booked into the DeKalb County Jail on Saturday, where he remained until Monday morning.

A police spokesperson said officers responded to Horton's $735,000, six bedroom home after receiving a domestic violence call.

Nowhere else on earth, at any point in Earth's history, has it been better to be black than modern day America. That is indisputable.

No other group is more coddled or receives more handouts than African Americans in the US. They only make it hard on themselves.

Why should they have waited? The investigation is likely a white man’s witch hunt. Did you want this school district to miss out on such an equity focused leader as Devon?

Only if they live around other blacks. An individual black person that stays in white America can absolutely thrive.

I’d imagine it’s not easy. Never been better than right now, but I’d imagine it’s still tough.

Flip the roles. Imagine the US is mainly black and you’re white. Add on to that you’re just trying to make it, but a substantially high portion of white people act out and give you a bad name. You’re just trying to get by, you go to an interview and you see nothing but black faces. You’re an outsider. There’s a disconnect there.

Obviously it’s better than ever in history. Still probably not easy.

This checks out, have a good friend within my circle that’s from Haiti and is very well off but nearly the entirety of his friends group is white.

If you are motivated and TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR OWN SUCCESS OR FAILURE it is an easier life than for my three sons who are told they are toxic and are responsible for everything wrong in the world. Especially the oldest who got wait-listed out of his top choice of school while a classmate who is a black female with lower gtades, test scores and extracurricular got early admission,
