Weaknesses of the 2026 Team

NOT looking to bash and players or units of the team, just looking for objective analysis of perceived weaknesses.
I think everyone is on cloud nine with what just wrapped up and so looking to see where we will need to improve going into spring/fall.

Only concern I have is 3 of the first 4 games being Clemson, @ Ole Miss and A&M. Then playing Bama and Texas back to back. And that’s not counting road trips to Tennessee and Auburn.

The 3 Cs are big unknowns:
Chemistry
Continuity
Competitiveness
Certainly the QB position is still an unknown especially at back-up

Glaring would be OL until proven otherwise. I'm optimistic about better position coaching (no where to go but up, right?), a scheme upgrade that should be several orders of magnitudes better and what appears to be personnel change that projects to be better.
Every other position group looks to be strong, though WR group might be short of proven power four performers, I trust our offensive coaching staff here. This should be the best RB room we've had in a while and same goes for QB room. TE group is solid as I see it, and I don't really have any hard worries on the defensive side of the ball.

Having to wait until September

Brutal schedule. Don’t be surprised if this is a 9-3 team.

If Pickett or Woodland goes down, we have a weak secondary.

Need a solid, backup waterboy. Only weakness I see.

The defense will keep them in games barring injury again. Losing Whit and Gooden last season was worse than Kelly letting Nuss rest to start the season.

I could see 9-3 and I wouldnt be entirely mad about it dependent of course upon how the games are lost. Its the first year and the poster who mentioned the three Cs is entirely correct

I agree. Getting a proven, quality LT is a huge +. But either Weston Davis has to dramatically improve or he needs to be replaced at RT. He was really bad! Center of course is fine. But someone is going to have to step up for LG, RG, and especially RT.
I think the WR from Hawaii is going to be something...even in the SEC. I remember Tre Harris at La Tech and nobody predicted him to be what he was at Ole Miss. Smaller schools can produce big time SEC WR.

I mean that’s year in and year out in the SEC
Having Clemson, bama, aTm, Texas all at home is as good a draw we could’ve got next to not playing them at all

Collectively how do we look personnel wise on special teams, punter, place kicker, long snapper, return specialists, etc.?

Personalities. That being said, Kiff knows them each now and studied them. So he is well aware of who will gel and who may have problems.
Again, I'm having as much blind faith in Kiffin as I've ever had in any LSU coach.

I no longer see any glaring weaknesses, at any position, other than maybe RT. But there are plenty of candidates to step up and fix that.
How it all gels together is always the question. And knowing that Leavitt isn't going to practice with the team until the fall is my biggest question mark. How quickly can he get up to speed? We'll see.
