I AM NOT PUSHING AN AGENDA HERE.

But the Europeans are. They say Trump pussed out on Greenland.

What does the poli board think? I’m really asking, not looking for an argument.

It’s your own fault if you expect to get an unbiased perspective from Europe or the MSM

Has anyone seen the deal?

How could we have an opinion without seeing the deal to then compare it to what he said he wanted?

Does anyone really think he really wanted a 51st state?

trump asks for something outrageous, then settles for something less so. he does this all the time. he literally wrote a book describing how this is his negotiation strategy. i dont think anyone really cares what europeans say

Are people still just plain stupid? Trump's play has always been to say something outlandish, and then let the other side work him back down to where he wants to be.

Example: Not one Presidential candidate was talking about securing our Southern border or limiting illegal immigration thru it. In one outlandish claim, "we're gonna build a wall, and Mexico's gonna pay for it", Trump forced the other dozen Republican candidates to address immigration issues. It's also led to not only us actually building a wall, but doing other things to limit illegal immigration.

There are many examples of him doing that. He doesn't care if they said he backed down. He just wants to get what he wants.

Trump was never serious about taking Greenland by force, and probably only half serious about buying it. He was saying that shite to swing America's big dick and freak out the opposition enough to give him exactly what he wanted - the best possible strategic location for the Golden Dome.

Read his book "The Art of the Deal". He never intended to take Greenland by force. The man wrote a book about his deal-making strategy yet everyone is constantly surprised and confused. He laid it all out in 1987. He is amazing to watch.

That’s a good point. It’s not the narrative the Euros are pushing, though.

Of course I don’t. But all media right now are quoting the Euros gloating. Bias doesn’t really play into that.

Jefferson did the same thing on the Louisiana Purchase. I wonder if everybody got their panties in a wad back then, or why they're not getting them in a wad today over what Jefferson did 200 years ago.

I thought the deal would be we control Greenland but pay a royalty on rare earth minerals extracted. That makes sense for everybody.

It's honestly amazing it still works, he does it so often.

Granted, sometimes I think it's 6 months of effort for very, very modest returns (on our part) but nonetheless, I'm surprised they still play the game instead of saying "Trump, we know how this goes, let's fast forward to the part where you don't get the big thing you're talking about and we make some minor concessions and you claim massive victory."

Art of the deal.

Ask for more than you know you’ll get(for now) then let them think they stood their ground.

Walk away with what you wanted in the first place, letting them think they won.

Honestly i have no idea.

But if I had to guess, this would be it.

Trump never wanted to buy Greenland, he never wanted to take it by force. But he wanted Europe to think he would.

And they did.

I dislike saying art of the deal, but it seems like this might be it. Europe thinks they won. Trump got what he wanted and he didn't need to pay anything.

It seems like both sides are happy. Trump just wanted to make sure society union wasn't going to get their hands on any of it.
