‘Clerk has receipt’

A common message on gas pumps these days (pumps that have a printer and could print your receipt)
1 - A sign of our time where the consumer is forced to do more work because the stations employees are too lazy to install printer paper at the pump
2 - A way to get more people to walk in the store and perhaps buy highly profitable snacks or drinks
3 - Something else?

Who grabs the receipt for gas?
Better question: is there a question responded to with a lie more than “Are you driving?”.

99% of it is waste. Why should the store pay for it.

4 - A clever ruse to get the driver to leave their vehicle unattended while gas pump bandits steal your tire valve stem caps.

As someone who regularly drives rental cars and submits expense reports, it is a sure fire way to get me to not spend any money inside of your business

Do you need the receipt to show what you purchased for work or something? Business owner and you want to claim it?
Otherwise..
Otherwise..

Probably realized everyone hit 99% of people hit no receipt or didn't press anything at all so it was pretty much selection bias.

Guess you have never had to turn in expenses or own a business where you keep the receipts for tax purposes.

Well if your paying with a company card and using a visa app like spend clarity you need to upload receipts to reconcile the charges.

I get it. As someone who has to turn in fleet receipts, thats why I stick with truck stops who are usually catering to fleet programs, such as Loves and QT or even Bucees. Local gas stations vary. If they have hot bar inside then I gotta go sniff that out anyways. You never know what you’ll stumble upon at a gas station warming case.

Nobody I have ever worked for reimbursed gas receipts.
That's what mileage is for.

I do to compare my receipts to what is charged on my credit card.
Casinos often reimburse your travel expenses so there's that. I used to live in BR and Harrah’s NO would do this.

It's a ploy to turn people trashy by going inside the gas station to pay.

Delivery drivers, truckers hauling for a company that owns the truck, city employees, police/fire/EMS, literally anyone driving a vehicle for their employment in any sense.
I have a vehicle stipend through the federal government and while my vehicle is "mine", the second I leave my house doing anything work related I'm on the government's dime as far as mileage. I can use my truck for personal stuff all day and have to cover that myself, but even if I'm out on my own time and have to leave for something work related I'm immediately on their mileage.
Receipts are still very necessary for CYA proof for a lot of us

The best thing my company ever did was switch to element for our fleet maintenance. Our vehicle and fuel card is assigned to an individual. The prompt only asks for user password and vehicle mileage. All that is tracked with them now, no more receipts. Our PO credit card is another issue.

What point do you think you are making?
Literally hundreds of thousands of people pay for gas with company credit cards and need to submit receipts.

I’ve used this and I agree it’s awesome. I generally don’t use my company credit card for fuel but when I rent a car it’s necessary.

You weren’t spending money anyway. If you were, you’d set the pump and then go in while your car fills up.
If you are waiting to fill up and take your receipt before going in, you were never going in.
