The 805,000 alumni worldwide helped a little bit.

A caveat needs to be made when discussing any ratings increases over the last year.
Nielsen completely overhauled their ratings system and algorithms about a year ago. Sports viewing has been the biggest benefactor under the new Nielsen rating system.
For example, SEC games on the ESPN platforms saw an increase of over 13%, Fox CFB games increased about 12%.
Other sports have seen significant increases as well. Are more people watching baseball, football, basketball, etc.? Sure, that’s a possibility, but historical comparisons should have an asterisk until we have a few more years of data using the updated Nielsen ratings system.

I wonder if the NBA will get half of that number for any single game this year!?

How did one game AVEREGE views? Why don’t they just say how many people actually watched the game? Sounds like some made up bull snot to try and continue to prop up this Indiana team above the 2019 tigahs aka greatest college football team of all time! How about Indiana run through the schedule our MEN did and see how they fair. Honest minds would say they get pounded but you won’t hear that right now!

Bad comparison. NBA plays 82 reg season games to 12 for CFB. They have volume scale so don’t need as many viewers per game. Same with baseball they play 162 games.

Because a lot of people didn’t watch the whole game…

This should help more teams who haven't been there get in. That can only be a good thing.
We're tired of seeing the SEC teams and Ohio State/Michigan in there. Let's get some new blood in these playoffs.

Further evidence the SEC lives in their own bubble mindset always under the impression the rest of the Country wants to watch them as much as they just want to watch themselves.

Bad news for the “natty should be on a weekend” crowd. Guarantee a Friday/Saturday night natty would not get this many viewers because casual fans wanna go out on weekends. Everybody at home doing nothing on Monday night = largest possible audience
