Two sports at LSU drew a profit in Baton Rouge last year, per a recent story from Wilson Alexander (Nola.com)

- LSU reported $117M in revenue, $50M in expenses, which adds to nearly $67M in profit for Football.
- LSU Basketball also turned a profit in 2025. LSU made $2.5M in 2025 on MBB.
- LSU WBB lost $7.9M during the 2024-25 season.
- LSU Baseball lost $921K during the 2025 season.

MBB TV money.

+ NCAA Distributions
+ SEC Distributions

It would be profitable even if it was run like a Minnesota daycare.

Imagine what that number could be if we didn’t have a team that is in the McDumpster.

Virtually 0 people have said that. Some do say that it would make more money if the team were winning and people were excited about it.

So why does WBB not receive profits from Television like Men's Bb?

Kind of crazy that baseball didn't profit, but it's not structured as a profitable sport.

Is this a serious question

quote:

The most recent NCAA Men's March Madness championship game was the 2025 national title matchup between the Florida Gators and the Houston Cougars, held on April 7, 2025, in San Antonio. Florida won 65-63 in a close contest.

Viewership for the game, broadcast on CBS, averaged 18.1 million viewers (according to Nielsen live-plus-same-day figures). It peaked at 21.1 million viewers during the exciting final moments.

2025: UConn def. South Carolina — averaged 8.5 million viewers (ABC), with a peak of 9.9 million. This ranks as the third-most-watched women's championship

Starting in 26-27, WBB will start receiving a significant media revenue both from the SEC contract and from the NCAA Ty payouts.

It’s WAY LESS profitable than any Somali run “business” in any state

FWIW:

Alabama men’s basketball profited almost 10 million.

Just think how much money LSU could make if we had a good MBB coach.

Jay Johnson making $3M a year probably contributes to this.

Did anyone honestly think it did? It seemed pretty well known here without Wilson's story.
