Do you treat RB&R as a main dish or a side?

I cook it as a main dish semi-often because it’s simple and cheap. I know many people/restaurants do it as a side or at least serve it with fried fish or pork chops. I’m definitely not opposed to that, but I just like the simplicity of it.

Main dish at the house. It will only be a side if I am at a restaurant that has it as a side.

Always fried chicken with my RB&R.

In New Orleans on a Monday, it’s usually the main dish…

Main dish at home, with hot sausage on the side (dipped in mayo). Side dish at some restaurants/fast food.

Main dish at home with smoked sausage, sometimes will fry some pork chops to go with it. Only a "side dish" when I get Popeyes.

As a kid growing up it was always a side to some type of meat. Now as an adult its most always the main.

What restaurants serve them as a side?

Usually a main but sometimes I’ll use it as a topping to smother something, like a Schnitzel.

Most meat and 3s in the South. Red and white beans are more of a side dish the further you get from Louisiana. Although I appreciate both as a main.

Main dish but I bet it's been 10 years since I have eaten them.
I like white beans with sausage and cornbread better.

Definitely a side. Even if it has a link of smoked sausage in it. The fried pork chop or chicken (protein) is what I consider the main. Just my preference. I also refuse to have breakfast at supper and I know there are some who like that.
* yes, I know red beans contain protein.
