That contract was way one sided but at the end of the day, he did sign it…
Big Ten also had solid contract drafting…

Every team needs to copy this contract immediately.

The people who want the transfer portal are going to put an end to that template soon. This is the exact thing they didn’t want.

As nice as it would’ve been to have this guy at least we don’t have to deal with all the drama that would’ve been attached to the situation

So we just try again next year?!? The insanity reigns now but off-season is gonna be exciting from here on out with the portal!

F*ck that. Just do what Xavier Lucas did. Take them to court. Drag it out for 4 years to where nobody even remembers why they're sueing... NIL has no buyout clause as it isn't a sports contract. It's a marketing contract. Can't structure NIL contracts for buyout/payback. Not how it works. Rev Share could have buyout as it is directly from the school, but his rev share is likely $300k. Ain't no MF way a $300k rev share contract has a $4 mil buyout.

Somebody tell Delly they already did.

I don’t believe he signed a 1 year deal for $4mil with a penalty or buy out clause for $4 mil. Only the repayment of the original $4 mil.

The contract could be shite but DW just decided he didn’t want to fight it.

He hired that same lawyer. He knew it couldn't work due to the new Big 10 contract wording

He was probably told by suitors they wouldn’t pay the full amount .

Or use it to recruit against the entire Big 10. Why would anyone choose a team in that conference if they have other options?

Big 10 about to get negatively recruited to hell

So he would have a 4,000,000 penalty 4 days after signing? Sounds pretty capricious.

If they’re paying the full amount up front it makes sense. If not, this template will be put to an end quickly.

I’m no lawyer but that smells like bullshite.
1. I doubt the House settlement said anything about a new school’s revenue share being reduced.
2. How can a Big 10 school dictate another’s schools revenue share? Even with a said contract it’s likely easily fixed by new school’s outside the Big 10. See Miami and Wisconsin case. And with this not being NCAA bylaws and actually circumventing NCAA bylaws about transferring and 2 separate conferences likely, no one to enforce this until a judge would rule on it.
Am I interpreting this wrong? Probably so, just my uneducated thoughts.
Edited to add if rumors of Williams and Fisch sharing an agent a good lawyer could tear this contract to shreds in court I’d assume.
2nd edit. AI agreed Big 10 team could not enforce SEC or any other conference to reduce revenue share, and no enforcement mechanism as NCAA has no rules on such. So frick Ross Dellenger for this bullshite tweet.
