Honestly higher than I would have thought. Thanks almost exclusively to the rookie Banks and the very underrated acquisition of Fortner that we were not much much worse. McCoy was also the highest ranked Center before his injury.

LT Banks - 73.3 29th ranked OT
LG Radunz - 48.5 75th ranked OG
C Fortner - 66.5 18th ranked C
RG Ruiz - 55.1 57th ranked OG
RT Fuaga - 64.5 53rd ranked OT

quote:

Having moved back to his original position on the right side of the offensive line, second-year offensive tackle Taliese Fuaga improved from his rookie season. The Oregon State product allowed pressure on 5.7% of pass plays in 2025, compared to 6.2% during his rookie campaign.

While his season was cut short due to an injury, center Erik McCoy once again showed that, when healthy, he is among the best players at the position. His 84.1 PFF pass-blocking grade tied him for the highest mark at the position this season.

Best player: Kelvin Banks Jr.
Banks' 76.2 PFF run-blocking grade this season ranked second among all rookie offensive linemen.

Backs up the eye test, which was we were decent at tackle and center but had terrible guard play.

Hmm Ruiz actually finished in the "starter" range, albeit near the back end. Fortner being that high is a bit surprising. Hopefully we can retain him for depth/potential guard starter/center if McCoy goes down yet again.

I think that’s about right. 25 ain’t good, but it’s not the worst. Banks is looking to be a home run pick, and that’s elevating the overall value of the line

An important question we need to decide is do we consider moving on from McCoy. He’s been injured more than available the last two years, and Fortner proved to be at least an adequate replacement.

Currently there are only 2 players that make sense capwise cutting prior to June 1st and that's Yiadom and Godchaux. Everyone else we would have to wait/designate a June 1st cut, but we also don't get that money until then.

That means that players that people have been discussing like Ruiz, Kamara, and even McCoy are very unlikely to be gone from the team this year unless we trade them, or we create the space to carry their dead money until June 1st.

I truly don't see cuts happening outside of Yiadom and some vet minimum replacement level players we need to clear to make room for new players.

It also makes more sense to carry McCoy AND Fortner for depth rather than make it either/or. Like previously said Fortner can also function as a starting guard and has proven he can slide back to center if McCoy goes down.

Now if McCoy is injured again this year I think that will spell the end, but we should have more depth by then.

Both of McCoy's last two major injuries, I'm 100% ready to blame on him trying to do too much to cover for Cesar Ruiz.. and before that I would blame all of McCoys injuries on Peat.

Get this guy two competent guards - dont have to be pro-bowlers but just a couple of decent veterans

Worst starter in the league then, but still a "starter" level player. xD

The conversation about Fortner needs to be had. He REALLY needs to be brought back, and as much as I love McCoy, he can’t stay on the field.

I don’t know if it will be possible to move on from McCoy though. We definitely need to get TWO guards in FA though. Mickey even said in the press conference today that Ruiz needs to do better. Kind of surprised me that he actually called him out by name lol
