CWD has been around for the existence of deer. Kills some, doesn’t bother others. Similar to cancer in humans.

Interesting. When they test for CWD, they find it.

Almost as if its always been there. And DWF's all over the us spending billions and grinding their teeth to come up with new regulations wont do shite.

Maybe there are just too many deer. We have tried optimize land all over the south to support deer herds. Maybe this is natures way of creating balance.

Ms has been testing like crazy all over the state. They aren't finding it all over the state.

Mississippi has seen a significant increase in Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) cases in deer since the first detection in 2018, with numbers rising from 70 in 2023 to 127 in 2025, impacting numerous counties like Benton, Marshall, and Alcorn, and prompting the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks (MDWFP) to establish CWD Management Zones and urge hunters to get samples tested due to the fatal, contagious neurological disease

The top officials are pretty worried what the herd will look like in 10 years. Spreading 3-5 miles a year in each direction from the zones it has been found.

They've found it in 18 Ms counties despite testing across the state(82 counties in MS). All but one confirmation located in the same regions.

I wish they would be equally concerned about the plummeting duck numbers.

I will say the impact of high density and widespread contagion is being seen in Wisconsin on mature bucks and herd size.

MS game and fish have very little to no control to the duck numbers. That is a Federal issue.

What kills deer quicker, CWD or a wildlife agent sharpshooter spotlighting over a bait pile?

My close friend shot that deer. He killed 2 bucks on consecutive days. He supplied samples for both, one came back positive.

He already had both deer together in one ice chest. Green jeans came to his house to collect the meat, he had to give them both deer because it was mixed up at that point.

Shitty way to lose 2 buck tags!

Would take the elected officials in Washington to make changes.

I don't think heated ponds or corn is the reason.

A little bit of both, they were taking it, and he wanted nothing to do with it.

It’s sad that people still make this false claim with what we now know about the CWD situation in NW Arkansas.
