Let’s play a game for those who think Cam isn’t worth $12 million because he’s 37.
I tell you the top 15 DE contracts by average annual value and you tell me how many sacks each player got in 2025.
Let’s set the over/under at 8 players obtaining 10 or more sacks and who earned $20mm or greater. Is it higher than 8 or lower than 8 for a salary $20mm or higher? (15 total players)
Here are the salaries by AAV without sack totals

Let’s set the over/under at 3 for players earning $15mm-20mm and who got 10 or more sacks. (6 players)

Like Trey Hendrickson played 7 games but he’s coming off back to back 17.5 sack seasons, leading the league last year. Nick Bosa played 3 games but he’s only 28 with a sack title and shits out double digit sacks when healthy
You’re getting caught up in one good Jordan season like you did with two games of Derek Carr

Why are you getting caught up on two players out of the entire list though? You’re cherry picking at that point.
ps nice dishonest red herring from the guy that argued Shough was a wasted pick for months

You must’ve been reading while hiding out for a year after your Carr takes

He’s right though. He has the Saints in a pretzel because
A) he’s not getting younger
B) his 2025 play is an outlier based on the last few seasons
C) the Saints have no viable replacement for him
Demario Davis has the Saints in the same position, though “B” does not apply for him.

Top 25 Sack guys over the last three seasons. Reference the AUVs
Jordan has 16.5 sacks, for the record

I don't think the Saints should pay him 12M in 2026.
I do think in hindsight his production in 2025 was worth 12M.

When you are done doing this, do the same analysis for 3 sacks because Cam Jordan had six sacks COMBINED over the last two years prior to 2025.
More importantly, the Saints need to be investing in future players. Despite the fact that Cam has been great...he isn't part of the solution to rebuilding this team.

This is why we are facing a multiple year rebuild. Its hard to accept, but the Saints can't afford to be chasing wins right now. The team we ultimately compete with will have to include a talent infusion...including replacing some of our best players right now.
Olave is another example. He's our best offensive skill player. But, with his injury history, the Saints (IMO) have to move on and replace that talent...and ALSO find more talent around him.
We aren't close. We need to keep our head down and keep piling talent onto this roster. And, vets like Cam either need to be cap friendly vets...or we need to hug them and wish them well.

And again, you're dismissing his injury plagued season where he wasn’t able to rush the passer, and the out of position season led by Rattler where we didn’t play ahead
That is 2 seasons of his 15 year career
Now is the time to pay him because we get cap savings and production, versus nothing. Shough and Chase both credited guys like DD and Cam for the culture this team has and the reason we’re winning. The argument to let them go is not logical

The difficulty isn't arguing cam's free agent worth w/ his recent production in a vacuum. The difficulty is balancing this with our cap situation, a roster that already has granderson and chase young locked on decent starter money deals, combined with the possibility of going edge in the draft.
Add onto this with cam's leadership qualities and importance of history to the franchise and the need to resign a few other key free agents in positions we have far less depth at.

Easy, it saves us money and pushes the void year to the year before or during Shough’s new contract.
Yall aren’t respecting the 2nd round rookie wage scale contract enough

You were ok comparing his stats to guys who missed most the this season though. Can’t pick and chose when you want to get into the nuance
And I acknowledge his contributions and would not mind having him back. But let’s not get out over our skis here. He had a good year on a team with few shining moments. But let’s make sure we are looking at the big picture here and not reacting in the moment

Saves us short term money but still spending money down the road.
Who is more important: Demario Davis or Cameron Jordan. Answer that 100% honestly first before this conversation can continue.

DD is more important out of the two of course.
Olave is a riskier signing with this PE if we’re being honest and nobody is pushing back on that.

If it is a one year deal bring the man back. Also bring back Davis too. We are in a position where we drafted well, have our QB, and have real leaders on the field and in the lockeroom. Both have proven they can still play at a high level at thier age. Cam has started every game with the exception of 1 in his rookie year and outside his rookie year Davis has started every game. They are both worth it on 1 year deals imo.

Its easy if they both want 1 year deals IMO. But they may want more, thats where we’ll have to draw a line

He had a good year. And got sacks, but it didn’t seem like he generated constant pressure like Young did. I’d have to look at his sack numbers once young got back. I remember we had no pass rush early in the year.
He seemed cooked to me the last two years.

Where does Brandon Staley figure in here?
He installs a new system that has Chase Young and Cam Jordan attacking from the edges (rather than trying to plug Cam in as a DT) and they both have great seasons.
So was it an outlier or just a good coach maximizing his players' talents?
