Jordan Tyson or Carnell Tate at No. 8

Get our QB a true WR1. Shough has been great throwing to a bunch of practice squad guys. We need to desperately improve the talent in the receiving corps to take the offense to the next level.

I thought Vele was our #2?

Don’t know why, but I watched several Arizona State games this year. Tyson doesn’t seem like that stud WR to me. But I could be wrong.
I wish Bell would not have been injured. He seemed like a no brainer if he fell to the 2nd. I like Boston and Brazzell in the later rounds. Also Sarratt if he falls to us in the 3rd.

If you draft Tyson/ Tate at #8 then you need to trade Olave for the Buff 1st, NYJ 2nd, or NYG 2nd. And then draft another WR in the 3rd or 4th.

Did you see Tate vs Miami. Looked horrible.

Why do we need to do this? The whole point of drafting a receiver would be to get another weapon to pair with olave for Shough. That would kind of defeat the purpose.
I like Tyson over Tate. Tyson is significantly more explosive. Feel he would pair well with olave and have Vele playing his big slot role. That would be a pretty potent receiving core.

Not saying I’d love either at 8, but I’d rather Lemon than Tate.

Because that only works in a perfect imaginery scenario in peoples heads where Olave is never injured again, plays through his contract, and the #8 pick isn't a bust.
The downside of that is completely fricking up your draft and cap for several years while passing on another top player that can help another position.
You can't just look at the very best scenario and except that. There's a really terrible outcome that could happen aswell.
You are also ignoring the possibility of then taking a WR with that 1st or 2nd that you get for Olave.
I'd rather trade Olave and draft a WR at #8 and 2nd rd > draft a WR at #8 and pay Olave.

I would go CB in the first round and draft a WR in the second or third round. There are great ones available on Day 2 every year.
Take a flyer on Barion Brown in the 5th or 6th round - he has speed and could be a good WR3 (similar to Shaheed) with a QB like Shough who can through the deep ball with accuracy.

There is a possibility of a terrible outcome with every pick in the draft. Your real debate is signing olave or not. Drafting a receiver at 8 or not is irrelevant in that regard. Whatever we pick at 8 will be on a rookie deal for 4 years with a 5th year option then you decide what to do at that point with the cap. Here is the thing. You are in an even worse situation if you trade olave and draft a receiver to replace him and you miss (Ex: titans - AJB trade for Burks). At that point, you probably just wasted several years of Shough if that happens. Even if you hit but traded Olave in the process then you haven’t improved your roster and only just maintained. We upgrade the interior line and give Shough an additional playmaker to olave and we are contenders.

No cornell, he wasn’t impressive against Miami

I’d rather go Downs or Bain in Round 1 and then take Sarratt from Indiana in the 2nd

Bailey, Downs, or Bain round 1
Neither of the WRs are clearcut 1s and there’s good depth in the class to find help later on.
