Updated to replace Mazda 50 with the CX-5.
Took out GMC.
Now shopping CX5 and Honda HR-V.
Might consider Kia Sportage.

Daughter is driving a 15 year old vehicle and she’s in school getting her masters so she’s spending a lot of time on the road.
Between her vehicle and my other kids ride, I’m tired of dealing with repairs.
Trying to stay a little on the cheap side so I ruled out the CRV and RAV4.

Thought about including the KIA Seltos into the mix due to the low price, but it still seems like a garbage brand to me or at least that’s the perception I get.

According to chatGPT

Summary: Best Fit By Priority

Choose Mazda CX-50 if you want:
? Better safety test performance
? Sportier driving and handling
? More premium feel inside

Choose GMC Terrain if you want:
? More cargo space and practicality
? Easier tech interface and bigger screen
? A more traditionally comfortable daily ride

In the long run the CRV & Rav will be cheaper due to reliability, longevity, and resale value.

My wife has a CX-5 she bought in 2016 which still runs great. Have zero complaints about this car. Fun to drive, never had a mechanical issue, great gas mileage and enough space for everyday use.

I would go with the Mazda. I have a '17 Mazda6 and, hope not to jinx myself, haven't had one problem with it.

My son and his wife (no pics) both have Mazda’s. Hers is a CX-5. Both cars about 6-7 years old and outside of regular maintenance there has been no issues. The CX-5 has about 125k on it.
I have nothing on the GMC except that it’s a GMC.

My daughter i driving a 15-year-old Rav4. She never has any issues with it but wants a newer one. Should I try to talk her into driving it to 250k?

My daughter currently drives a Honda CRV with almost 200k miles.
It’s been a pretty good car and even the stuff that has been needing repairs recently are somewhat minor, but getting it into the mechanic is a time consuming process at this time and I want her in something new and safe with all of her driving she does.

Find one of these used in your price range.

You’re welcomed.

The cx-50 is a very comfortable ride. Interior is a touch above the terrain. Base engine is a little larger but still 4 cyl. If remote start is of value to you, mazda reuires a subscription or you can have aftermarket installed. I was looking at both in 12/2024 so check current info. Seems you get more value for your $ with mazda

Well that’s stupid. Most cars have had remote start included for a long time now.
