Not questioning the action but this is open invitation for China to take back Taiwan. It's happening. Wonder if India will try it's chances with Pakistan and Bangladesh.

Read a history book or search on the internet. Communist China never had control of Taiwan. When the communists took over the Republic of China retreated to Taiwan and have kept it ever since.

We could easily halt most imports to China. China is dependent on food imports and coal imports. They aren't going to do anything with Taiwan while Trump is POTUS.

If China tried to take Taiwan, it would effectively end Xi's tenure and he knows it. The coast of Taiwan is more than 100 miles from mainland China. An amphibious assault on Taiwan which is a largely mountainous and densely populated with cities, would be nearly impossible not to mention Taiwan is armed to the teeth with the most advanced weapons and a huge army of their own. China attacking Tawain would be a monumentally stupid move by Xi.

Would we intervene if china tried to take key west? Taiwan has always been considered part of china, regardless of what the people of Taiwan think. We should mind our own business.
By the way, before you Taiwan fans think we should intervene, that govt, the original china during world war 2, sold bonds worth close to a trillion dollars to US citizens at the behest of FDR. They have never repaid a cent.
