On January 2, 1492, King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella became the first Christian monarchs to reign over a united Spain since the Islamic Umayyad Caliphate invaded Spain in the year AD 711. The Reconquista began with the Battle of Covadonga in the summer of AD 722 and progressed slowly for the next 770 years.

It doesn't count if they didn't have the haircut.

I read a theory that the hispanic tradition of naming kids Jesus began in spain in response to muslim occupation of the Iberian peninsula and so many of them being names muhammed.

The evolution of the haircut began with Ferdinand VII

Its actually completely incredible if you think about this:

Muhammad died in 632, and they already established Islam and a Caliphate that extended across Africa and conquered Spain starting within 30 years of his death and within less than 80 years conquered all of spain

That's pretty wild

Cut them bangs straight across and put a gold chain on him, and he'd fit right in

Yep. Conquering two-thirds of the Christian world along the way. When you factor in all the years of raids into mainland Europe going forward from the 8th century, it's a wonder the pope waited until the end of the 11th century to call for a Crusade.

With all the violence and crime by Muslims throughout the world recently it's a wonder we aren't currently calling for a Crusade.

And they've been making incredible ham ever since. Actually pork is in a lot of dishes in this region for a reason.

You really don't hear stories of Muslim misbehavior out of Spain like the ones in France, Germany, UK.

Hmmmmm...

Do we have the intestinal fortitude to pull that off here? It’s the only way.
