Someone has to explain the hold that Austin Thomas has on these head coaches.
I don’t get it.
And he interacts with them during the game - almost like feeding them advice.
What’s the deal with this guy? Is he a savant or therapist to these coaches?

He’s got a big mouth when it comes to revealing information

Lane prefers Goldmember or Glasscock or whatever his name is lol

Maybe he is the keeper of the 30 pieces of silver???

That's strictly because Austin bailed on Lane for LSU. Not related to competency whatsoever. Fortunately Glasscock is elite in his own right

I wasn’t overly impressed with Thomas’ evals or roster construction under Kelly.
Maybe it wasn’t his fault, but he also may not be the guru we thought he was.

That’s the craziest part. Headset on with Bk turning to him constantly. Do they just like complaining to him or was he actually giving input? Pretty sure he’s never coached in his life. A little different than giving Andrew luck a headset at Stanford.

Yep. It’s really odd.
His position is GM.
Imagine an NFL HC looking over at the GM and asking him for advice during a game.
Makes no sense to me

Jerry Jones’s wet dream.

I don’t understand why he needs to wear a headset on the sidelines. He did it in Baton Rouge and is doing it for Ole Miss.

I could understand if he just had an earpiece in listening to things, but what input could he have on a roster he didn’t build and a team he only had been around for 10 days.

Damn.
It’s almost like shite goes on behind the scenes that the slapdicks on Tigerdroppings aren’t privy to
Yall have no clue what Austin Thomas really does on a day to day basis, yet everyone here either loves him or hates him…… based off of nothing
Tigerdroppings is crazy sometimes

Dictating to BK which players need the highest number of snaps per their nil contract
I have no idea but it wouldn’t shock me

I find it pretty remarkable that a trail of mostly mediocre to bad teams and head coach firings follows Austin Thomas wherever he goes. On the 2013 USC team, he left for LSU in April after signing day and roster construction.
2009 Tenn - 7-6
2010 USC - 8-5
2011 USC - 10-2
2012 USC - 7-6
2013 USC - 10-4 Lane fired after 3-2
2014 LSU - 8-5
2015 LSU - 9-3
2016 LSU - 8-4 Les fired after 2-2
2017 LSU - 9-4
2018 A&M - 9-4
2019 A&M - 8-5
2020 Baylor - 2-7
2021 LSU - 6-7 O fired after 4-3
2022 OM - 8-5
2023 OM - 11-2
2024 LSU - 9-4
2025 LSU - 7-6 BK fired after 5-3

Why you think Kiffin canned him?

He is a TERRIBLE evaluator of talent! How many portal misses did we have this year! Austin Thomas has worked for sooooo many different schools and has missed at every single one!
