Bigger picture. What does the data say about the effectiveness of subsidized daycare?

Progressives have long believed that government assistance for daycare is important, for two reasons:
1) they believe that early childhood education (universal pre-k) is long term beneficial for children and has lasting benefits.
2) they believe that subsidized daycare is important to allow women, especially single women, to enter the workforce. The logic being that daycare costs easily dwarf a low income salary, meaning even if a low income woman on welfare wants to work, she can’t because of the daycare costs.
Regarding the first point, the head start program has been studied a lot, and most of the literature finds that the benefits of pre-k last at most through 3rd grade, when those who didn’t attend prek have similar academic performance to those who did.
The second point I am more sympathetic to, but not sure about the data

Head start is a jobs program for the women that work there. Mothers of attendees do not get jobs.

With the billions being wasted, it might be cheaper to pay the woman to stay home with the kid.

Subsidized anything creates wealth for scammers.

I think it gives some women the opportunity to build a life, but as evidenced by the millions of freeloaders we have in this country, it’s a total failure of a social project.

At least some of the data regarding educational benefits of Head Start programs should be scrutinized so data points from fraudulent centers are excluded.
Good grief, the compounded effects of this fraud will cost even more money to remedy.
What an absolute mess.

It's like everything the government subsidizes. You get more of it.

“Women working” was, I believe, one of the first goals of those who seek to destroy us and our way of life.
It had all sorts of benefits-
1. Increased the tax base, which funneled more money into the hands of those who would abuse it
2. Created tension in the nuclear home due to fatigue, competing schedules, etc…
3. Got the children into the indoctrination centers earlier than kindergarten.
4. Prevented the mom and dad to fully instill their moral compass into the child before the children when off to school
5. Started the rise of feminism
6. Allowed the government to create these avenues for fraud.
7. Started the modern mentality that teachers should raise the children- and blame them when the child misbehaves

I think subsidizing day care increases the costs for those not getting subsidies. The military just increased their childcare subsidy payment and now daycare in my area now charges the same amount as the subsidy, increasing the price for those not subsidized.

Government funded daycare should have one professional running it and all other employees should be people receiving welfare, ebt, and other gov assistance. They need to work 20 hours anyway how about them working for their handouts?
