Mike said OM is trying to throw a ton of money at him.. anyone have any word on this? That would be absolute gut punch if true.

Hopefully we can hold onto him

Hope we keep him but I will trust this staff to evaluate him and not overpay.
If they choose to spend the money elsewhere I won’t melt.
He had memorable drops in multiple games this year. He plays like an oversized WR and I would rather see us utilize him that way if we keep him and bring in someone who can factor into the run game / blocking as a true TE.

The Treydez green that Nike just signed to an NIL deal with LSU like 2 weeks ago? I doubt it.

Isn’t ole Miss a Nike school as well?

“Nike’s Blue Ribbon Elite program could have started anywhere in the country, but it launches in Baton Rouge, representing another example of LSU leading the way, and remaining at the forefront, in the new collegiate model,” LSU Athletics said in a press release.

Somehow I think he's gonna stick around.

No transfer shocks me anymore in modern college sports. If Ole Miss gives more money than us he will go. Lawyers and “agents” will figure it out.

quote:Thanks for your opinion, but are you guys ever going to quit melting over idividual players? Treydez played for us this year, and we went 7-6. Ole Miss didnt have Trey Dez, and they went 11-1. You get my point, but please stop melting over players. We are in a totally different world now.

Man I love how nationally recognizable and powerful the LSU brand is. I’ll bet Ole Miss doesn’t have a deal like that with Nike.
It’s good to be an alum and not some coat-tail riding sidewalk fan like a ton of Bama fans are just hopping on the bandwagon when it was convenient because of their dynasty. Can’t wait til we’re back on top of the sports world again with some more titles! It’s comin

Well I honestly didn’t think much of it at the time because I didn’t know this was even in question… but Sunday night (24 hours after the Texas bowl)… I saw Frank Wilson and Trey’dez Green at Drago’s in Perkins Rowe. They were kind of in a back corner table and it was just the 2 of them. Definitely interesting now that I am seeing he is in question!

Yes. But LSU is a pilot for the Nike nil program. They are the only school that has it. It could change but there’sa contract with this and a C lot more that goes in to it.

Where do you find that figure? Not saying wrong, but even Scone said those were small 5 figure deals. No doubt cool af to be a Nike athlete, but it seems unlikely those deals make it cost prohibitive to leave.
Kid has no idea who is going to be available to throw the ball to him next year either. I would understand why he would test the waters here, hope he comes back, but ultimately feel hopeful he stays depending on his relationships with others staying on the team

Read the tea leaves here
The thread title isn’t quite accurate to say “sweating”, it’s more about whether Lane/Glasscock find value in paying a TE the amount of money he will likely command in the market when he may not be the positional fit they prefer.
Lane’s system has moved to having more prototypical inline blocking TEs. So if LSU pays TreDez it may mean they’ll value him as a WR. There are likely to be plenty of WRs in the portal you can get for the kind of money he will likely command. Thus, it becomes about fit and business—and he may find more opportunity elsewhere.
It is what it is. Love the player but he’s been very erratic in terms of his hands and blocking, so we can’t be upset if the new regime doesn’t value him as much as the market.
