Could we have won the division if Olave catches ball in Miami?

If we had won that game and beat Atlanta, that would put us at 8-9 and 4-2 in the division. If Tamapa beats Carolina, I believe that would put us in a 3 way tie and we would have the tie breaker, correct?

As much as Olave has improved my opinion of him as the season has progressed……this (as well as the concussion issue of course) is a huge concern for me when it comes to a big contract.

Paying 30M/yr to a guy that can’t make contested catches to save his life (or may get concussed while attempting) is just asking for disaster.

If he can improve on contested catches, I think it’s a slam dunk…..but I’m not sire he will.

If Grupe makes 1 or 2 of his 8 missed kicks we may have won the division. Screw him.

Right, and would you want a 8-9 division winner in playoffs? No team with a losing record should even qualify for playoffs.

It's the concussion issue.

This is one of the reasons we are years away. Olave is our best offensive weapon and we have to replace him. We need to go backwards before we go forward.

We will have a similar issue with Demario Davis. Not only will we have to build talent on defense, but we will have to replace our best (current) player.

If the dolphins don’t run back the two point try we would be in contention.

Shades of 2016 when we had a go ahead PAT blocked and returned for two in the last minute (against either broncos or panthers I believe) that cost us the game and we ended the season one spot out of contention going into the final week.

Hopefully history repeats itself and 2026 is like 2017.

I think that other games wouldn't have necessarily played out the same but wow what a run it would have been, mates.

Shades of the 2003? Saints who finished on a tear but just missed out due to a Doug Brien Jets miss in St Louis and a tiebreaker that didnt go our way

We got our asses kicked by a playoff team with a losing record. Remember that division winners all host 1st round games, so we'd have been playing in the Dome.

I would say this-
if the Saints started 1-8, then put in their rookie QB and went 7-1 with him, there ain't a team out there that would WANT to play them in the Superdome. There are teams that could beat them, but it wouldn't be easy (and most will be hosting).
