A federal judge ruled Monday that the Trump administration can resume sharing location data about undocumented immigrants receiving public health insurance benefits with Immigration and Customs Enforcement, starting next month.

U.S. District Judge Vince Chhabria’s ruling is a victory for President Donald Trump’s mass-deportation agenda as it allows ICE to use Medicaid data in deportation cases beginning Jan. 6. The agency had been blocked from doing so for months amid a legal challenge from blue states.

“The sharing of such information is clearly authorized by law and the agencies have adequately explained their decisions,” Chhabria wrote in a seven-page order.

The decision marks a significant setback for California Attorney General Rob Bonta and 21 of his Democratic counterparts, who sued in July to prevent the Trump administration from using Medicaid data obtained from the Department of Health and Human Services to target immigrants.

Hopefully it will discourage illegals from using Medicaid.

If they ruled they couldn't share information across agencies... the ongoing relationship between the IRS and the Social Security Administration would be quite a hit.

That is probably the only thing that saved that from being ruled as anticipated per who the judge is.

The IRS and Social Security Administration share income information and SS paid in to catch people not reporting the same information and the SS administration wouldn't know what self employment tax was paid in to give people credit for if not for that information sharing.

well - duh!!!

And what is California's compelling interest in paying expenses for illegal aliens?
Could it be just for facilitating their convenience in casting illegal votes?
or bloating the census rolls?
or increasing $$$ the state gets to mismanage?

or enlarging the number of people available for protesting any effort to just obey the law???

Non citizens should not enjoy the protections of laws meant for citizens. It’s plain logic and easy to understand.

Illegals illegally using legal services is illegal?

Only the emotional or militant ideologue would find a flaw in such a basic concept.

Remember when Elon said its not so much people collecting SS who should not be.......its the SS Numbers being used for other programs......and govt agencies dont interact.

I think this was a design, not a flaw. And you see how the courts are making this ridiculous argument that the federal government should not "speak to each other"....ITS DEFINITELY DESIGNED TO HIDE FRAUD AND HAS LITTLE TO DO WITH ILLEGALS RIGHTS.

Undocumented immigrants are not eligible to enroll in federal Medicaid programs, but California and other blue states — Illinois, Colorado, New York, Washington, Oregon, Minnesota, as well as Washington, D.C. — allow some people to receive state-funded benefits through their Medicaid implementation programs regardless of immigration status.

Chhabria’s order is narrowly tailored to six categories of “basic” personal information: citizenship, immigration status, address, phone number, date of birth and Medicaid ID.

Interesting. I hope these aren’t federal dollars being used.

Terry dog,

Im certain they are using the california model. The federal govt says they were clipped for 9.5 billion dollars in the last year.

Newsom charges the insurance companies some sort of filing charge for each medicare person, at 182 dollars per month. The insurance companies claim this with their medicaid for 50% reimbursement. The state then "forgives" the filing charge and keeps the feds 91 dollars. It is then used to fund illegals through calpers.

So Newsom is not lying when he says medicaid is not being used for illegals, it is being outright stolen, then he is using stolen money to pay for it.

The disgusting thing, this is the model the dems wanted kept in place and one of the issues for the govt shutdown. If you dont allow us to steal we will just shut down the govt you are paying for.

It shouldn't have taken 7 pages to say this, it should have been like 1 paragraph.

Fighting every decision Trump makes, especially ones that are cut and dry legal and within his power, is a great way to lose support for your cause.

There should be a punishment for lawyers who file frivolous lawsuits like this. I recommend castration.

Thanks for spelling it out a little further.

I try to stay on top of the macro elements, but specifics of these programs elude me due to the time needed to research and to fully understand them, which I’m sure is by design. Coming full circle, it certainly paints a better macro picture when the micro details are understood. But unless someone is in the healthcare industry (specifically working with these programs), who has the time to research?

The federal government is so much bigger than originally intended.

Last night I was reading about Washington as the chief executive selecting a mint location and contractor as prescribed by Congress. For a split second, I thought, “Man, he was spending his time on that???” But then I thought about it more and thought, yes, the federal government shouldn’t have had too many demands that a POTUS wouldn’t have time to make that level of a decision.
