The UK Health Care Disaster is a Cautionary Tale for America’s Armchair Socialists

What is troubling in the debate over Obamacare is that some Democrats admit that it has failed.
It is extremely important that the US Congress fix it now. No more kicking of this can down the road. It was set up to fail while pharmaceuticals and hospital groups reaped insane profits, with a percentage kicked back to the politician and media for campaign expenditures and "advertising" though the doctor, who does not watch TV, makes your medical or drug decisions.
We can talk money laundering later.

Get the government out of the insurance business. Make insurance companies throughout the country available to the insured instead of just a few in each individual state. Eliminate all pharmaceutical, medical, and legal ads.
Also, no government official anywhere in the USA can have an insurance plan that the common jack or jill, devonte' or shauntae can not easily afford as well.l.
Socialists win the argument because the MSM lies to the people because the MSM is getting paid with "ad" dollars to stay real quiet, yet an individual does not pick the medicine and in most cases, the medical procedure or equipment being advertised.

I was just in NYC in early Dec and I was able to look at the potential socialist takeover there. That has zero chance in hell of success. NYC is the biggest collection of property owners and capitalists ever assembled in one place. I was last there in 2014 and since that time they have built 4 buildings on 57st in the 1000' range at a cost of about $3Bil each. There are other buildings going up as well. These are people who have money for the most part and they will survive the mood. The ones who will get hurt by it are the ones living on the margin.
As I said in an earlier post NYC is the center of the capitalist world. When their business goes south for any reason Mamdani will be shoved aside. The Dems know how to change the system to make it work how they want. As for Seattle, they are just fuuucked.

In my life experience, anything government involves itself in will end up worse as a result.
Do you have experience that contradicts that general principle?

What you're seeing is textbook populism in action.
Abandon conservatism and buy into "the government could fix it, if only they would," just like the Democratic populists of the last 100 years.
Roger was 100% correct. Populism is an inherently collectivist philosophy and it will always resolve to the left.
Now what we have are two groups of populists and the only difference between them is which groups they want government to favor at the expense of the other.
