Would you trade Shough for the number 1 overall pick in 2026 draft?

Absolutely not. He’s a franchise piece

No. I think Shough has shown enough to this point to be considered a guy you absolutely build around at QB and there's nobody who is "can't miss" in this year's QB class and even if there was that guy, sometimes even they don't pan out. It's so damn hard to find a franchise QB, you DO NOT get rid of him once you have him.

You keep Shough as your guy of the future and take advantage of his team friendly 2nd round pick money and build around him.

There's enough gambling that I would not.

1. Shough is truly cost controlled being a 2nd rounder
2. He's proven he at least belongs in the league, a lot of things can go wrong with this qb crop
3. The best player in this draft isn't qb.

No. Qb is the most valuable position in the league and he’s having success in the nfl already with a weak supporting cast around him.

He clearly learned KM’s system well and is a great fit.

I think there may be some growing pains against the good-elite teams in the league now that there is some film on him. But he clearly looks like a guy who can be a franchise qb in the nfl and have us as a yearly playoff team within a couple of seasons when there is more talent around him.

No I would not. And it’s not close….

Shough might be the #1 pick if they did a re draft of the 2025 draft class. He might also be better at QB than anyone in this next class (2026 draft) and that is exactly what we needed.

I’m biased but how could I not be… Shough just put together the longest win streak for saints since Drew Brees was QB. Idc who he’s playing or how old he is. That’s impressive. This is the NFL after all…

Hell no.

We should we counting our lucky stars we have Shough and aren't having to choose between Fernando Mendoza and Dante Moore.

not for this qb class.

I want a tall/fast WR or a dominant defensive player with our pick. I really haven't seen a player in this draft that is a must-pick player like we saw from some prospects in year's past. I think even if we pick 12th that we will have a pretty good player. There are a lot of good non-QBs in this draft and I think one of those great WRs or Edge rushers will be there at our pick. Hell, we might have the pick of the litter for DBs if we want.

They are already saying he should have been the #1 pick last year so that would be stupid to trade him for another #1 that is not proven themself.

I wouldn’t… and if you don’t need a QB, then the pressure to pick in the top 3 virtually goes away. We can find a big impact player in the top 10… obviously, since we did it with Shough at 40.

No. Why would we?

It's nice to get the first pick in the draft, but the only time you NEED it is to get your QB.
We seem to have our QB in Shough.

No. I’m emotionally attached to Shough. This ain’t madden. I’m a fan and when you get a guy you like and is good you want to stick with him and value rooting for him.

This.

Shough may ultimately be a 7-8 game "flash in the pan". It's happened many times in NFL history. But there isn't a prospect in this draft that warrants overlooking proven good production against NFL competition to draft at No. 1. Especially when the 2026 No. 1 contract would be ~$50M compared to Shough's ~$11M contract
