Why did West Weeks not play?

Was he injured or did he opt out? He can't possibly think he's going to play in the NFL.

He’s preparing for an opportunity in the NFL. His brother got seriously hurt last year in the Texas bowl so I kind of understand. Besides, it creates an opportunity for younger players to get in and play some.

He’s probably gotten an honest assessment that his best path is as an UFA for a team that may have a need for him. You basically have no shot to be picked up as an UFA if you are injured.
Another possibility- he may be looking at trying the UFL. He can be picked up straight out of that league without bothering with the draft if he doesn’t expect to be selected. Over 50 UFL players were signed were signed by NFL teams this year, mostly for reserve rolls and practice squads, but that’s the category West Weeks falls into.

It must be eating Nuss up inside that a healthy Senior Tiger, like Weeks, would opt out of one more time to play with his brothers in an LSU uniform.
