I recently caught a giant 30 1/4” inch 9 pound trout and a good friend on the same trip caught one 29” that went 7.7 pounds. Any recommendations for someone in southeast Louisiana to do a replica mount for us? I’m not opposed to get one shipped if that is a viable option.

T-Joe’s in Marksville can do that for you. He did this one for my uncle…

I did some research on 29” 7.75# speck I got and this looked like a pretty legit outfit that is going to be totally custom based on your photos:

Ill second New Wave. They did a 31.5", 9.25lb replica mount speck for me 2 years ago. I couldn't be happier with their work

I have been fishing my whole life for big trout and never caught anything near that. That's amazing.

What area?

I have some skin mounts from 18-20 years ago and they look terrible now. You are doing this the right way.

I used this company from a friend that goes all over the world fishing for a trout my son caught in Perido a few years ago.
They do really good work. The mount is packed from a recent move, but I'll see if I can find a picture of it

Thanks for the recommendations, I decided to go with New Wave for my replica. It will be about a year before I get it, but it’s worth it for a fish of a lifetime!

A 30” trout is comparable to a free range B&C Whitetail. Pretty damn rare. And impressive.

Baffin or matagroda is my bet.
My pb is a shade over 7 and have caught a pile of 5-6’s.
Had a 7.8 in the boat that would’ve been over 8 a week prior. Pics don’t begin the show the mass of a big trout.

I know we fish the same areas, and yes, my PB there is 25 1/4", but skinny, so barely touched 5 lbs.

I'm sure you remember that dock on the Pelto side of the Island on the Wine Island Pass end. There was a PVC pipe that stuck out of the water off the shells in that small cove. Caught it there. Might be the only time I remember my dad nervous with the net.

I've caught some slightly bigger in Big Lake and Tee Butte, but anything over 6 will get a replica or actual mount.
