It was obvious they were going to renegotiate and bring in replacements.

I just wanted to see Curne at guard but i don't doubt you can go out and get an equal too or adequate replacement for less money for all these guys currently on the offensive line. Its paying for 4 or 5 top end guys and adding depth that I just don't see us being able to do. We need a few offensive linemen to develop thats on the current roster.

It could take as much as $8-10 mil to buy a complete starting OL that might be an upgrade across the board. And that’s with a SHITLOAD of successful tampering, because there won’t be that many too OL just hitting the portal on their own. That’s almost 1/2 of the allowed rev share budget. That math just doesn’t work.

Maybe they can get creative and mix rec share money and clearinghouse deals to get to the needed final amounts.

Curne has a lot of great potential. The only 3 lineman LSU should consider of the regular rotation guys this year is Adams, Curne, and Moore. Adams might need to move and maybe they suggested this and he didn't like it. I can't imagine they're going to let every single lineman walk. You have to have some continuity somewhere on OL. You can't let the entire OL walk. That's disaster waiting to happen chemistry wise.

LSU is going to spend more than 20 million. The cap can't be policed because schools are just going to funnel extra money to legit businesses ran by boosters/alumni on NIL deals. They can't cap this they're going to get sued if they do and they can't tell anyone what a player's market value is either regardless what the NCAA says. this is up to the businesses to decide if they're of value. That's where the 30-40 million number is coming from for Kiffin. Good luck policing that NCAA and thinking you're not going to get sued through your teeth. All the cap is doing is giving an idea where the schools can get involved. I just don't see how they can police that. Going to be a nightmare.

Way I understand it as well is LSU has carry over money they can legally spend as well.

A TRUE FRESHMAN!

Maybe many of you forgot what development means.

He is in the portal because he wants money. You can write off poor performance due to being a freshman sure, but then expecting a raise after said poor performance is asinine.

The issue is that he will still likely be a good bit cheaper than enticing a replacement with anywhere close to the same talent level.

Even if we spend $30 mil (which was a number floated during the Kiffin sweepstakes), that’s still up to 1/3 of the total on one position group, and that doesn’t include any reserves. We have needs elsewhere in case you haven’t noticed. You know, like 2-3 QBs and 2-3 RBs just to field a functioning offense. A starting QB alone could cost $3-6 million.

I’m hoping a couple of these guys are just testing the waters and return. They were highly rated and I wanna see how they look are new coaching.

I agree, you need to retain some OL athletes, if not as starters for depth. Like most I was not impressed with our OL performance this year. I think some will get solid offers and roll but most will see that their salary will be a reflection on this years performance. Pay cut boys!

POTENTIAL.....

Remember this name
TRAZELLE JENKINS....

When he was drafted, it was because he has soooo much potential...
YOU DON'T FIELD AN OFFENSIVE STARTING LINE, and have them protect your QB or block on POTENTIAL..... Trazelle wasn't even the best offensive lineman on MICHIGAN, but they (Saints) Drafted on Potential
How'd that work out????

POTENTIAL MY A.......
THIS IS LSU,
NOT POTENTIAL UPSIDE Univ, to be a starter, you need NASTY GUYS to be starters....

Actually Curne is the only one out of all of them I wanted to keep. With better coaching and him playing his most comfortable position he would be a mauler. Good riddance though to the rest of them

Losing 8 or 10 of these guys will be devastating. You can't pull 5 SEC starters from the portal. Sunbelt or Southland starters won't cut it.

If we can get Moore back, you can build around that as he was a very solid player this year and center is one of those positions you'd love to have some continuity there.

The rest of the OL was so mediocre to bad this year we could easily upgrade via the portal, not sure why you think guys like Adams, Mubenga, Thompson, Davis, Echols, Curne, Williams etc arent replaceable from this season. Not a single one of these guys graded out even average this season from a PFF perspective except Thompson who cant even come back and his was still a 62.9 which is barely above their average grade of 60.

These guys are ABSOLUTELY replaceable via the portal.
