A drummer and vibraphone player, Redd has presided over holiday Jazz Jams at the Kennedy Center since 2006, succeeding bassist William “Keter” Betts. In an email Wednesday to the Associated Press, Redd said he pulled out of the concert in the wake of the renaming.

“When I saw the name change on the Kennedy Center website and then hours later on the building, I chose to cancel our concert,” Redd said. He added on Wednesday that the event has been a “very popular holiday tradition” and that he often featured at least one student musician.

Good.

May get nothing out of it, but they should at least try.

Well…what does the contract say? It’s not difficult to figure out if you have a contract.

That is an excellent way to manage irresponsible behavior. Hopefully, an unforgettable example is made.

Good luck with that. Contract surely says the Kennedy Center. It’s now the Trump Kennedy Center so, technically, he could weasel out of it with a great lawyer. Regardless, he’s a slime ball for canceling.

An entity changing its name does not vitiate a contract. If that was the case any entity anywhere could get out of any contract at anytime by just changing its name.

Surely there's a cheap divorce lawyer on this board who will tell us what will happen.

My guess is that his contract is with a company who provides entertainment for venues. It handles situations just like this.

Building could say anything on the facade, what is the legal name on the property ownership if you think that the building facade is what matters? If the contract is enforced through a legal contract between the name characters then your argument may not apply

The original point was what does the cancellation policy in the contract say.

And I doubt the contract says the Kennedy center. Most contracts list address and name of the business. There’s bound to be an LLC or non profit or some organization who runs the business. I doubt the business that signs contracts is named “the Kennedy center”.

Then Trump must also be a weasel as he’s very well known for not paying people he owes money to…

You're an idiot that knows nothing about bankruptcy or Trump. You think this artist wants to lose all his assets to avoid $1 million? Change your tampon.

Do that and they can liquidate assets to pay the debt.
