They have to go somewhere; not here

Palau will accept up to 75 deportees in exchange for $7.5M as nation of 18,000 cites labor shortages

The agreement will allow "third-country nationals" who have never been charged with a crime to live and work in the Pacific nation, which has a population of about 18,000 people, according to announcements Wednesday from President Surangel Whipps Jr.’s office and the U.S. Embassy in Koror.
"The United States deeply appreciates Palau’s cooperation in enforcing U.S. immigration laws, which remains a top priority for the Trump administration," the U.S. Embassy in Koror said in a statement. "In this regard, the United States granted $7.5 million to address the needs of relevant Palau public services."

Just drop them off and don't pay.

I like this. $1M each seems steep, but I realize the cost to our country to keep them here is much higher.

Never heard of this place. Googled it. I bet those 75 deportees won’t be complaining they’re getting sent to paradise

Counter proposal
Just fly them out there, drop them off and let Palau put 'em to work.

I'm sure Australia and New Zealand are loving this

Shouldn't the ones buying the slave labor be the ones paying?

For $100,000 each with the understanding that none of them have been convicted of a crime? That's a good deal for a poor country.

You're obviously correct. I can't math good first thing in the morning.

I used to be an accountant so I can do that stuff in my head.
Understandable for a layperson after a long week.

The Palau island chain includes the islands Ngesebus and Peleliu. I only know of them from Eugene Sledge’s war memoir.

Let the get shipped by boat. Take them 50 miles offshore and a cinder block tied to them. They can have a choice of jumping in and getting a chance or hands tied
