Danks and Danks said Bard's son had his dorm room burglarized on Oct. 11 by a group that pulled a fire alarm and used fire extinguishers to disable security cameras. When he reported the incident to the resident assistant, the attorneys said Bard's son began receiving threats.

Bard's lawyers said that three days before the shooting at KSU, the same son and his three friends were assaulted by 15 to 20 people. They also claim the son was attacked with baseball bats and weapons in his dorm room by 20-30 people the day before the shooting.

quote:

According to the release, Bard’s family approached his younger son’s dorm room to retrieve his belongings and found four individuals waiting for him; the officer escorting the family ordered the individuals to leave.

The firm said that when the officer left at one point, an individual previously involved in prior assaults began to photograph Bard’s son, resulting in a physical altercation between the son and this individual.

“Jacob’s son immediately exited the elevator and called KSU police,” the release continued. “Upon exiting the elevator, other individuals who had been involved in prior attacks on Bard’s son were now in the lobby despite the assurances of the University that these individuals would no longer be allowed in the building. These individuals again photographed the Bard family with their phones and began making threats.”

As the family loaded Bard’s son’s belongings, the attorney said the family “saw numerous individuals who had also been involved in prior attacks arriving and running to join the other individuals in the dormitory lobby area” and waited for police to escort them into the building.

“Despite having two armed Kentucky State University Police Officers present, a group of twenty to thirty individuals gathered in the lobby of the son’s dormitory to violently and viciously attack Jacob Bard’s son and family,” the release said. “Many of these individuals were not students of the university and wore ski masks, hoods, and otherwise concealed their faces.”

The release went on to say that Bard’s son was “slammed into the concrete,” with multiple people attacking him.

“The officer on scene had completely lost control of the situation, and while Jacob and his wife ran towards their son, the officer was retreating further from the erupting violence,” the release continues. “In the chaos, Jacob tied to physically pull the individuals off his son, was struck and when he was unable to do so, and seeing his son in imminent danger of death and serious physical injury, Jacob then drew his firearm and shot two individuals who were actively and viciously beating his son.”

Damn he only got two. I would’ve gotten a couple more in such an enclosed area.

Look, they asked for it. Don’t assault people for literally no reason and chances are you don’t get shot.

So this keeps happening. From the girl stabbed in the neck in Charlottesville, the fake ups thugs that killed a family in front of two babies, the old woman who lost an eye the other day, and now this. What kind of future does your children inherit?

So many questions. Why were these kids being targeted? How does the university allow this to escalate to this level? How does the coo not call for back up? Have we really gotten to a point where people feel so little fear of consequences that they act like this (that’s rhetorical)?

340,000,000 people live in this country. Basic odds say we’re going to have some fricked up shite happen. Don’t let the media, only after your clicks, convince you we’re in societal and moral free fall.

"The mother of the deceased student has openly posted on social media calling for Jacob’s son to be murdered for revenge, has appealed to criminal gangs, specifically naming the Vice Lords,” Danks details. “The family is receiving credible death threats, and the sons now are living in an undisclosed location for their own safety.”

Holy shite, this is unreal.

KSU has an enrollment of 1,445, which is the approximate size of Jesuit High School. I doubt if they had more than 2 security officers on staff that day. The local police should have been called as soon as it looked like it was getting out of hand.

Well…Kentucky State is an HBCU.

I’m sure the kid was targeted for “reasons”. Maybe some disrespect was involved, but it’s obvious they were after him. Parents seemed like they were there to do the only logical thing, get the kid out of the school. University officials and LEO dropped the ball.

But 100% society is more dangerous and less moral than it was even just a short time ago, much less decades ago.

Violent crime is waaayyyyy down. We’re living in one of the most peaceful periods in history. The stats consistently back this up.

I know it FEELS worse today, but it’s due to social media, 24x7 news, and rage bait constantly fearmongering, trying to get us to generate money via eyeballs and clicks.

Think to back in the day, let’s say the 80s before internet and before CNN really took hold. You had your local newspaper, a 30min local newscast, and a 30min national newscast.

Would a woman getting stabbed on a train by a bum make national news in 1983? What about 2 people getting shot at a college in rural KY? A deadly home invasion? What Trump ate for breakfast this morning and how it was insensitive to Jews?

Hell no. You wouldn’t have know about any of that or the hundreds of other violent crimes occurring on a daily basis. Ignorance was bliss. Now that you are being fed these obscure BREAKING NEWS!!!!!!!! stories 24x7x365, you think we’re in a worse place as a society.

The cold, hard numbers say you’re very wrong.

He mistook calling for backup for just backing up and out of the way.

Uh, governments, universities, non-profits? Shockingly, crime is a pretty important component of the health of a society so many different entities are very interested in crime stats. Those stats help set funding levels for LE and governments, fund grants for schools, critical to real estate investors, sociologists, you name it.

100% true statement.

While I agree with the dad shooting a couple folks I don’t see this as “oh the future holds a shooting like this for me” attitude.

You can’t take a micro event and apply it as a macro. Too many factors involved.

Because crime was down in the District but a US military presence was brought in to usurp power? Yeah. What of it?
