Area 2
65° slight wind out the SW
Suppressed 35 whelen encore

In my saddle, 2 sticks high, at the start of a short ridge. It makes a little peninsula through a swamp. It’s the perfect spot for a buck to bed down and be surrounded on 3 sides by water. Winds blowing down the ridge, hoping one will come try to get on it to bed down or check for does. I have all week to hunt, so I’m waiting on a good buck.
Good luck!

I’ll be back in the saddle this afternoon, heading for The Landmass, hoping to be in a blind by 3. Very little activity the past couple of days with the warmth and the fog. Cold mornings next week!

Be safe and shoot straight guys.

It’s 90 in South Texas and I’m miserable.

Got a 25/06 and 6.8 SPC with a thermal. Going to sit late and see if I can bust a pig after dark.

Finally sitting on a clearing way to close to I-65. Too many people in all the spots today, I got nice and sweaty scouting a new area, but it sucked so I just hiked my sweaty arse back out. 2 more spots taken, now at this one I had on my list to try but not in the way I'm currently doing with just 30 minutes before sunset. But who knows. My morning plan is clear, at least. Probably.

Have zero expectations of seeing a shooter. Going through the motions but fully expect the weather next week to get some movement kicked up.

Planned on hunting until about 10-10:15 this morning. Around 9:55 a single doe came trotting by. Ended up sitting until almost noon, hoping a buck would come by on her trail. Didn’t happen. Got down and hauled arse to the other side of the property to hunt the edge of this cutover tract that I like to hunt. Had a good buck run across the 4 wheeler trail about a half mile from where I’m hunting. I’m really hoping he’ll end up heading toward this cutover before dark, but I’m not usually that lucky.

Saw a deer 5 minutes after jumping in stand. Anything legal is getting it. Momma wants more ground meat.

Well lets see the pics!

Man the deer are MIA where I am in area 4. A 2am spike and random yearlings at 9am. Nothing else. Where have they gone?. I guess its gonna take the rut to get them moving

20’ up in the saddle in some dense hardwoods.
.270

Was hunting a different part of the property with my bow this morning. Had a decent 8pt at 20 yards but never got a clear shot. He was the largest of three bucks pursuing a hot doe that walked right under my tree. The rut is officially on over here!
