Was hoping for a feel good, come from behind, redemption movie to celebrate Christmas. Got a POS that is hard to root for. Not sure what they were really going for, but was very disappointed.
Acting was very good. Story was a huge miss I believe.

Isn't it based on a true story?

First Safdie movie?

One of the Safdie brothers has said they actively like to make frickups the heroes of their stories because that’s who they root for

I don't think this movie was made to be a heartwarming holiday movie. The timing of the release is more to do with awards season.

Don't go in expecting to like the central character.

They made a few unusual casting choices including Mr Wonderful

Just got out and one of the first movies in a while that I didn’t want to end, and it’s 2.5 hours if that tells you anything. Great movie, great story, and great acting.

The score and 80’s song choices set the mood too. Even though it is based in the 50’s, has the feel of a classic 80’s sports movie with some Scorsese vibes.

agreed. I really liked this movie. Probably my favorite of the year. The way things unfolded it was almost like a Coen Brothers movie. It’s not “Rocky but with ping pong” so if you’re expecting that you’ll be disappointed. Very well acted all the way through - this is the first movie where I get Timothy Chalemet. Paltrow was great as well.

Josh > Benny.

This was a much better movie than The Smashing Machine and is probably my favorite of the year too. Timmy C will beat out Leo’s OBAA performance for Best Actor. I think I liked the Bugonia score a little better although I’ll be disappointed if this doesn’t get a nomination.

At $70m, it’s A24’s most expensive movie. I don’t know if it can break even, but it should clean up during award’s season.

Super pumped for this will try to catch it today or tomorrow. I thought Uncut Gems was a bit overrated but Good Time is one of my favorite movies of all time. I think I’ll love this

What a wild fricking ride, but figured I was in for one with who was directing. Great movie. The whole dog story

Watched it today. Really liked it but there were 2 small series of CGI that were laughable and also so simple I was like why didn't they use real "props" for it. Ready for spoiler talk because there is one thing that happened that I was a little confused about the purpose of it

Just got out - this movie was great. Impressed with Chalomet, especially after A Complete Unknown last year. I'm not a fan of the Safdie's previous films only because I don't like to be stressed out at the movies. This one strikes a better balance for me - more exhilarating than stressful and a little less mean-spirited.

I’m with you. I just out and loved it. I also got the Cohen bros vibe. I’ve never been a Timmy C fan but he was absolutely wonderful. Rocky w ping pong made me laugh. Fav movie I’ve seen in a while

Just got out. I thought it was ok. There's a lot to like, but also just a lot of nonsense. The middle part of the film bogs down quite a bit. I do agree that Chalamet is outstanding

Just got out. Incredible movie. Best I’ve seen in years. I don’t know how to describe it to my boomer parents.

Phenomenal movie. Extremely uncut gems. Chalamet was fantastic, the true successor to “a-hole Leo” from Wolf of Wall Street and Blood Diamond.
