Jim Beam Shutting Down……

Most important question is whether it will still be on the shelf for the next year? After that any other companies getting that squeezed by tariffs?

They increased production and capacity over the last several years exponentially. Just like the rest of the big players.. they all made too much product. This is not tarriffs this is over projecting the demand for their product

I wonder if this comes back to reduced drinking in younger adults...?
Most people who drink whiskey for taste arent going near the base version Jim Beam or Jack Daniels.. so your target audience is people who mix whiskey and RC Cola to get as bombed as possible, but with the rise in THC options, I bet it puts a dent in their typical customer base.
Luckily the FedGov just banned most of those competing products so the yutes will have to go back to getting fricked up on trash whiskey

That and the over-production mentioned in the post above yours. The drop in alcohol sales among the younger generations is not something I don't think anyone was expecting.

Idk I’ve had the cheapest and most expensive bourbons and whiskeys in the world. I still don’t mind Jim Beam every now and again, and I always have a bottle on hand.

Not only is expected it is a continuing trend... I think going back to about age 35 each group has drunk less and less.
I think Is saw that only around 50% of Americans even drink now.
Whether we want to admit it or not the alcohol centered social gatherings on their last legs. The way people gather is changing pretty rapidly

I've actually been able to find EH more regularly here west of Fort Worth and I've paid about $50 a bottle for it lately.
Went to Kentucky recently and learned that almost all of what we think of low shelf bourbon brands, also have some premium products. Maker's Mark had some bottles at the distillery that I haven't seen anywhere else and they're fantastic. They're essentially barrel select by the distillery. The distilleries were all packed busy.
It would seem that Jim Beam isn't "shutting down" as a permanent status. Bourbon is a tough business. You can't just spin up more bourbon and make it readily available. And there's hardly a thing such as bourbon "aged too long". They'll be able to sell what is sitting for the time being at a premium if sales lag in the short term. In other words, aging the bourbon longer increases its value.

Beam is owned by Japanese company (Suntory) …. and there are many Japanese companies in such trouble these days

What is the driving factor behind Japanese companies struggling? I haven't heard that. I think I saw Suntory owns Maker's Mark also but I might have had some bourbon since I read that article. All I know is I enjoyed Makers Mark distillery the most out of the tours I took.
I did enjoy the tour at Peerless the most as far as tours go.
