Obviously he’s known for being a great DL coach and recruiter apparently, but he’s been in the college game since 2009 and he’s been a part of a grand total of three 10+ win seasons across 16 years, two of those being at Temple under Rhule in 2015 and 2016, one being at Syracuse in 2024 before their spectacular collapse this year.

You have to wonder why being a part of arse teams and a losing culture seems to consistently follow him around, at a certain point it’s not a coincidence right?

Did he move from us or we thought Lucas was better?

Y'all sure were excited when the rumor was he'd be joining the LSU staff.

What changed?

Seems like he's most known for that crazy DL class at A&M when NIL started. Problem is, most of those players either didn't develop or they went elsewhere and got coached better. By all accounts, Sterling Lucas is a homerun hire so Robinson is irrelevant.

exactly... i hate when we do this...

Media: "Coach/Player _____ is rumored to be leaning towards LSU...
LSU superfan TD poster: "frick yeah, he's the best coach/player ever! He has all these great attributes and will make us a championship caliber team!"
Media: "Coach/Player ____ is heading elsewhere, no longer considering LSU...
LSU superfan TD poster: "I'm so glad we didn't get coach/player____... he was overrated, isn't good enough to coach/play here, we never really wanted him anyway..."

it's a tale as old as time...

Elijah Robinson will be coaching at Texas A&M next year, returning to the Aggies as their Co-Defensive Coordinator and Defensive Line Coach

He was likely looking for the title that was already slated to go to Chris Kiffin as Co-DC or Asst HC which was already taken.

Puzzling. We sign a DL class for the ages and ERob is like, Nah, I’m good.

I was ecstatic about getting E-Rob, but also proud of LSU for not letting him play the game with all this flip flopping and us moving on and still making a solid hire. I feel like both responses are okay to feel, no?

we’re only a couple of steps away from comparing a coaching change to an ex girlfriend.

Yep. Great recruiter AND coach

Robinson made is name as a recruiter being a bagman when atm got out ahead of the unregulated nil game. He was notoriously mid as a developer and coach.

I’ll take the guy who is also an outstanding recruiter but also highly regarded for his development of players all day.

Who cares? Just because we got somebody else doesn’t mean he isn’t a good coach or that there’s some underlying reason he won’t be a good coach somewhere else.

You're trying to pin losses on the DL coach?

I'm not going to pretend to be able to rank D line coaches across the nation, but after doing a little looking on both Robinson and Lucas, they both appear to be very good choices, with Robinson having the higher floor and Lucas potentially the higher ceiling.

The only questionable thing about Robinson is this move from Syracuse and a seeming lack of decisiveness, but It's pretty clear now that it was just a matter of the co-dc title being a stipulation of his and LSU wasn't going to give him that title.

I'm very happy with Lucas and would have felt the same about Robinson.

I think LSU just got tired of dealing with this guy. He seems like a drama queen. Remember his exit at TAMU and how every player loved him? He was trying to lobby for a bigger job there. I'm pretty happy with our hire now. I actually think he's better. I've seen a lot of questionable stuff on ER's ability to develop players. I haven't seen anything like that on Lucas.

To answer your question, no. Probably not. But he definitely seems like a drama queen in some ways.

EVERYTHING you say is fricking stupid man. If you want something more than trivial discussion, get off of a college sports forum and go do something serious.

I never cared either way if we got Robinson, at all. I’m just saying that the guy is a career loser whose contributions haven’t ever led to success for the teams paying him and that’s an objective fact. Cry about it more

No, he was the first choice and paraded around campus like a best in breed show dog for a reason.

You know that how? Be honest geauxldfinger. We know who you are.

From Robinson was a candidate. LSU chose not to give him what he wanted. 3 other schools (at least) also passed on offering what he wanted.

Atm gave him the title and pay he wanted.

That’s what happened. He didn’t turn LSU down.

You’re melting about a D Line coach that you had never heard of 2 weeks ago
