Hunting Ear Protection

Looking for a recommendation for ear protection while hunting. I found many on Amazon but looking for best option that does sacrifice the quieter noises. TIA.

I can’t stress enough the need for hearing protection. My hearing is awful and I have constant ringing. Wish I had started using 40+ years ago.

I have Axil GS a like them while shooting at the range.
Best hearing protection though is a silencer.

That said, I use walkers over the ear electronic muffs. Just fine for deer stand hunting. They dont work well when its windy but you cant really hear anything anyway, so I leave them turned off when it is windy. When its calm, they can magnify noise as much or as little as you want. I think they were only like $80 and a real awesome gizmo to have when duck or dove hunting.
I had in-ear electronic ear plugs before and I dont like them. Hard to keep.clean on extended trips

Mine ring constantly and I’m well under 40. But agree on the need for it!

I wear Howard Leight Impact Sports with PROHEAR GEP02 Gel Ear Pads to replace the standard inserts. Super comfy, work well.

The Howard Leight earphones mentioned above are a very good option that I've used extensively. I have also used the Walker earphones but I don't like the sound quality on those. For the past couple of years I've been using these plugs: LINK With the plugs I do lose some hearing but not so much that it affects my ability to hunt. The plugs are of course easier to wear.

I primarily rifle hunt with my 6.5 Creedmoor bc I have a suppressor on it. It’s awesome.
Currently using my dads’s .270 and I have some Walker electronic muffs to throw on if I have time.
When my son shot his deer we each had the Walker muffs on so we could talk.

I'm going to get something suppressed eventually, but for now I just roll with the Walker's electronic. I typically just wear them on my head above my ears, ready to pull down if I see something. No way I'm keeping them on all day and listening to the woods electronically. Batteries would die anyway.

I don’t think deer hunting is that big of a problem. I believe it was duck hunting that had damaged my ears the most. You’ve got guys shooting on both sides above your head. Mine ring constantly now and I have about 50% loss in my left ear. And crowded places like restaurants and the singing in church are terrible.

# of occurrences is way lower, yes. But I've shot my 30-06 without hearing protection and been right next to my son shooting the 6.5cm without it, and that sucks. Ears were ringing for 20 minutes, so with it being easy to avoid I'll do my best. Duck hunting it's obviously much more important.

Peltor EEP-100 have been great for me. Easy to pack around, battery last a while. I’ve used these at the range and NRL Hunter comps. I may upgrade at some point to have a case with battery instead of the case just being a charging port, but for a first pair the Peltor are rock solid.
I’d be leery of the Axil, from most of the feedback I’ve seen they are more of a marketing machine.

Another vote for Walker electronic muffs.
I have a pair and also got each of my sons a pair. Can usually find them on sale for a good price and they work well and are comfortable.

As others have said tough to beat walkers for the money. They are also the worlds best noise canceling headphones if you run an aux cable through them!

Haha- I did this once a few years ago!
I have Razor Slim Electronic Muffs for the kids, I use them sometimes duck hunting too, I have some gel, or gummy maybe- ear plugs that work well, I can hear enough with them in, but they muffle the sound.
I don't shoot without pro anymore.
