With what I saw last night, this team will be lucky to have 4 conference wins

LSU is a bubble team heading into SEC play. They are lumped into the middle third of the conference with Oklahoma, Texas, Auburn, and A&M. They really are only clearly better than SC. However, they are ranked ahead of Ole Miss, Mizzo, and State, who have all played well below expectations so far this season. It wouldn't be surprising to see them keep this up and finish in that 8/9/10 area of the SEC on the bubble, but also wouldn't be surprising to see them end up in the bottom 1/4 of the conference and miss the tournament.

This team will be nowhere near the 9 line when all is said and done. We’ve played one good game this season (the monumental, program-defining SMU win). The blowouts against cupcakes are not a good litmus test for a team.
Last night should’ve been alarming to any LSU basketball fan.

That will drastically change by the end of January

I think we can beat 8&4 and USCe, but after that the schedule gets tough.

The bottom half of this conference is back to the norm. McMahon should be run out of town if we finish worse than 9th.

You're still posting after getting your arse handed to you with your stupid posts claiming we're going to lose every game we've played so far? Must suck being wrong 11/12 games.

Blowouts against cupcakes are not a good litmus test, but beating a cupcake team by only 16 when they shot 57% from 3 is? I guess Alabama should be alarmed too with their 11pt wins vs USF and Kennesaw State?
Make it make sense.
So only you can determine what a good win is, when every major metric out there(that you've used against us for years) has us as a top 40 team and making the tournament? So you'll only value the metric when it fits your argument? Interesting.

No these people aren’t LSU fans. They just come here to shite on MM & tell us how much he sucks.
You’re not allowed to be optimistic about basketball or you’re a McMahon lover

The game last night was an anomaly. The refs, especially the older white ref, was absolutely horrible both ways. He called many non-fouls on both sides which I think caused us to play a little soft for a while. Hard to stop a team who was shooting 75% from 3 at halftime. Prairieview AM didn't start missing 3 pointers until the end of the game. Also, I felt like they were one of the bigger teams (guard wise) we played however we didn't take the lead until we went with a smaller, more athletic lineup. Robert Miller and Nwoko played a combined 30 minutes, which most of was in the 1st half. However, it was good that we did play a team that was super aggressive and we fought back and won.

With more than 10 games of data in the "computer" the predictive data (KenPom, BPI, etc) is starting to become more accurate. That doesn't just account for wins/losses. It uses analytics within the context of strength of opponent to start rating the teams. But that measure, LSU is in the 40-50 range on most at the moment. For reference, that is very tenuous at large "bubble" range for power conf. programs.
Like you said, the predictive data suggest LSU is in that 7-10 range of SEC teams. Given the really weak non-conf. schedule and assuming LSU can beat So. Miss (not a given if they play like they did last night), LSU's probably as good of a position entering SEC play as they could have hoped for. Meaning, LSU has a reasonable margin for error with the inevitable losses that come in the SEC (for everyone)
IMO, 8 SEC wins (unless they are all or almost all at home) is the baseline this team needs to reach to be in the NCAA Tournament conversation. Anything less than that and I just don't see LSU's OOC resume being able to prop up a 7-11 (or worse) conference record. Last year where 6 and 7 (conf) win SEC reached the NCAAT was an anomaly. The SEC is not nearly as strong this year. It's more back to normal.

This feels like Groundhog Day. The bubble will pop in January… again.

McMahon has us in the dance in December. Unfortunately, there are 3 months of SEC play left.

This is the big build McMahon has been doing. A chance to barely make the tournament.

We have the worst fans, I swear. We have to
LSU is going to be 12-1 heading into conference. We didn’t have a hard schedule but we dominated a lot and only had 2 dud games. LSU is top 40 on every advanced metric site.
Auburn went to overtime against Bethune Cookman to start the season. LSU plays a sluggish and lazy game against SWAC school and now we suck. So many people just want us to lose that you are trying to speak it into existence.
WHEN we make the tournament what will the excuse be? How will you justify saying you are a fan while literally rooting against us to win? How can you watch a team go into the ncaa tournament and hope we lose?
Surely people see the derangement syndrome

Its not derangement syndrome. Its that we have been here before and been let down. Literally just last year
2022: 11-1 going into SEC play. Won the first SEC game and then proceeded to lose 14 in a row
2024: 11-2 going into SEC play. Proceeded to then go 3-15 in SEC play.
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Not getting fooled a third time. CMM has a lot to prove before fans are just willing to get their hopes up and buy into the team and beating up on a bunch of cupcakes aint gonna do it

It’s not fair to judge them on that PV game alone, any more than on a game where they slaughtered some of the weak teams. Maybe they’ll play harder when they know they’re facing a better team, like when they played SMU and UCF. Maybe they’ll fold in advance if playing the best teams, like they did vs Texas Tech. We know they are capable of beating good teams when they are motivated, but the PV game shows they could lose to nearly anyone. I think this inconsistency is true for most teams, so where each team plays on its performance bell curve will determine how many wins they get. There are only a few teams as good as Texas Tech in the SEC this year, so I think we should be able to win most games this year.

How about let's be happy for our pretty good record so far, and cheer for the Tigers the rest of the season?
