Hey Baws and Bawdettes
When did your kiddos start not believing in Santa Claus ( or Easter Bunny for that matter...)
Just wondering as our kiddo's around that age.

10. They don’t need to be too old, but 10 is the answer

What are you trying to tell me?

Probably 10. They never really came out and said but you can tell.

Most stop long before you know it because they like getting all the presents and they don’t want to rock the boat.

We never went all in on Santa, Easter Bunny or Tooth Fairy.
We enjoyed themed festivities... but didn’t do the "magic".
Interestingly enough.. I just learned my daughter's husband's family didn't do the magic either. I thought we were the only family in town that celebrated but didn't deceive.

Most kids figure it out in that 9-11 age range.

I have a really good memory recall of my childhood, so I remember the joy that I had when I believed in Santa.
I kinda feel sorry for the kids who's parents don't let them experience that fantasy. But I also understand why they might not want to lie to their kids.
This topic could totally turn religious...

I looked up this very thing the other day. I remember I was 7. My parents pushed the Santa fantasy hard. According to what I read, some kids as early as 4 figure it out and as late as 15 believe based on their mental aptitude. Basically, how old do you have to be before you have enough common sense one man can't visit every kids house in the world in one night. Once I started to question it, I still had a sister that was 2, so I had to play along a few years for her or I was in trouble.

Both my girls are in their 30’s and still believe. Because I told them when they stopped believing, he stopped coming.

It could...
But, in my family's case... we didn't find God (He found us!) til 2007... my daughter was 7 by then... we made our choice for non religious reasons.
We didn't crap on it... or discourage festivities and asked her to keep her knowledge to herself.
We simply explained that Santa and friends were a fun way to celebrate, much akin to trees, egg hunts and whatnot, but most kids believed the lore and it wasn't for her to tell them otherwise.
Did the same with my son, we were Believers by then- but our reasoning remained mostly the same.

I think 3rd-4th grade is when most kids figure it out or either are told by friends or classmates.

I was 5. Asked my older brother and he confirmed it.

I figured it out at my son’s current age (7)
Pretty sure he figured it out last year; he apparently found presents in our closet that Santa gave him
Someone needs to start the wrapped/unwrapped presents from Santa thread soon so we can fight

I was never told. And I’ve never told my kids. I’m gonna ride this one until I can’t ride it no more. My youngest is 9. I’ll probably keep it going until they move out.

Santa Claus was a real person

Why did you tell her?
We just never did it.
It was important to me to say what I mean and mean what I say... and to never give my children cause to doubt my sincerity or authenticity in anything I told them.
I don't know why I am/was that way- it just seemed very logical at the time and still does.
I had a less than pleasant childhood but can't recall anything particular that would have shaped me on Christmas magic, so I don't think it's that.
We still decorated the same, colored the same books, had fun... just with the understanding that Santa and friends were something for fun, not for real.

We explained that and found some stuff to read to the kids. I forgot that part of it.
