This is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about. When his mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, but before they lived together, she was found with child through the Holy Spirit. Joseph her husband, since he was a righteous man, yet unwilling to expose her to shame, decided to divorce her quietly. Such was his intention when, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, "Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary your wife into your home. For it is through the Holy Spirit that this child has been conceived in her. She will bear a son and you are to name him Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins." All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall name him Emmanuel, which means "God is with us." When Joseph awoke, he did as the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took his wife into his home.

Many of us would have walked. Joseph was stronger than me. We should be forever grateful.

I hope all you baws have a blessed Christmas.

Indeed! Imagine being the step-father to the great I Am. That’s a sobering thought.

Merry Christmas!!

I've always kind of felt like Joseph is extremely looked over. He needs a good animated movie like King of Kings and David to shine some light on him.

Put some glory on fatherhood and shitz.

Joseph is not discussed much in the Bible, but he may have the most faith in the Lord.

Jesus had a good one.

St. Joseph’s passing before Jesus began his ministry is probably a large part of that, and I’m sure God had reason behind it. But his importance can’t be denied. I look to him for intercession on my behalf as a father.

Probably saved Joseph from the mental torture that he would have endured, having the synagogues and cultural leaders come after him for what his son was doing

whereas Mary, they dismissed her as a woman, therefore not responsible for her son's actions

I'm a PK, my whole family is full of ministers, and I've studied theolog.y This is a theory, and it's discussed amongst the intellectual elite

So I doubt it's ever been brought up here before

Been doing this a LOT more lately as a father with joint custody of a 13yo daughter who is too much like her mother, my son with his issues and some professional challenges.

Also been relying a lot on St. Jude’s intercession.

Imagine all that happened today, and Joseph posted on the OT about how his new wife was already pregnant before he ever touched her, but an angel told him it was okay because the Holy Spirit did it.

Would the OT embrace Joesph as a hero? Or he would they respond in another way?

And it also may have kept the early followers from focusing too much on the influence of Jesus’ earthly father rather than the Heavenly One.
