- The X post shares an image of artist Anke Kestermann performing pole dancing in St. Mary's Church, Lübeck, Germany, during an Advent event, confirmed by German media like n-tv and Bild as a deliberate artistic choice in sacred spaces.
- Reactions on the thread and broader coverage reveal deep polarization: supporters praise it as boundary-pushing expression blending sensuality and spirituality, while critics, including many replies, label it sacrilegious amid Christmas traditions.
- This aligns with ongoing European debates on secularism versus religious reverence, echoing similar controversies like yoga in cathedrals, highlighting tensions in post-Christian cultural landscapes.

Unfortunately, it does look like it's a Catholic Church.

Look if you want more male butts in the seats at Mass, this might be the way to make that happen, cap'n.

There’s a clue in the name. Prots aren’t naming a church over Mother Mary the co-redeemer of mankind.

It was....once.
It has been Lutheran since the Protestant Revolution.

This is a great example why the regulative principle of worship is so important. God is the one who dictates how He is to be worshipped.

Is there somewhere else this is being reported? Or additional photos? Because if not, this could easily be an AI generated photo.

I used to go to a mega church in Houston. They pumped in smoke and had a light show during the service. It's all about some big time production to get the people in the doors. Not true worship.

Kinda makes one wish all of Germany had gone Protestant 500 years ago.

Better than the Methodist church by me advertising a Drag Queen Bingo for tomorrow. Not joking, it’s on the sign
