SLU (4-7) is coming off a close loss, while LSU (9-1) coming off a big win in New Orleans over a Q1 opponent, SMU.

It will be interesting to see how they perform coming off of their biggest win and best played game of the season and then playing a creampuff that they should blow out by a large number. This is where coaching really comes in play and he has to motivate them to take the game serious and play at a reasonable energy and effort level. If you let a team lapse into bad habits then they will carry them forward to other games.

Is Southeastern any good this year?

SLU is not good this season so far.

Going into this game:
LSU - 9-1 - NET #32 - KenPom #35
Southeastern Louisiana - NET #299 - KenPom #285 - Q4
Remaining OOC
Mon, Dec 22 6:00 PM Prairie View A&M - NET #305 - KenPom #310 - Q4
Mon, Dec 29 7:00 PM Southern Miss - NET #173 - KenPom #192 - Q4
Including this game, we have the remaining quad-level games (as of now, these can and probably will shift):
10 Q1 games (all SEC games)
4 Q2 games (all SEC games)
4 Q3 games (all SEC games)
3 Q4 games (all OOC games)
The meat grinder of an SEC schedule has 14 of 18 games in either Q1 or Q2 with most in Q1. The brutal second half of the SEC schedule will have us playing in:
6 Q1 games
2 Q2 games
1 Q3 games
If this team gets a tournament bid, they will have passed through the fire, which is a good thing, IMO.

Worst team we have played, NET 285. The next game, Prairie View, NET 310, will be even worse.

Not all of us are clairvoyant, like you.
I would say we're not all pricks like you, but, honestly, most of us are

They gonna get McNuggeted tonight

I expect LSU to cover this.
I am still worried overall that we live and die by Max shooting. But if we learn to just attack the rim like Kentucky during the Anthony Davis days, you still win games. We are semi soft on D, but if we are relentless on O attacking we are really really good.
LSU 97
SLU 67

Yeah, this is the key, and typically where CMM has not shown the ability to find success. If he does, then we get to the tourney and have a competitive team, if he doesn't, he needs to go. Conference play is Do or Die.

Easy work for the Tigers tonight. Need to try and hold them under 60 for some sort of goal in this one.

There is no world where it's a good thing for the current LSU basketball program to play a brutal schedule. The team just needs wins

A little reading comprehension would really help you understand what people are saying. I did not at any point suggest that a tough schedule is the desired schedule for this team; it simply is the schedule they have. I was suggesting that if they manage to win enough to get in the tournament, the team will have more confidence and be better prepared to face further tough competition.
My whole statement, rather than the small portion you chose to quote:

Let's look at a hypothetical team that has gotten into the tournament. In your estimation, is it better to make the tournament by having fought through a tough schedule or to simply get in without having faced tough competition?

I'll be there but not particularly excited about it, I REALLY wish we'd play some decent OOC home games one of these years outside the mandatory conference challenge games every other year.

If we make the tourney this year and our underclassmen return we will probably see some better teams. Tech comes to New Orleans next year, no?
Plus the ACC challenge would have a better team at home. Possibly NC State? Pretty sure that game would sell out.

I will be there, I never miss a game under any circumstances.
if gilhool doesn't get in a game soon seems like he should redshirt.
these final 3 before the SEC can be used to try out rotations. I would like to see more PJ Carter so he is comfortable coming in to sink some big triples in close games.
maybe zipper too.
if nwoko will be getting in foul trouble all year, would be nice if gilhool were available for short spurts, now with reed out.

Heading to the PMAC for my first in person game of the year. Bringing the whole family, hoping to see some good first half shooting!
