What did the Ohio coach do to get fired with cause?

School says it’s a no-brainer, fired with cause for unprofessional conduct. His lawyer says it’s not true and they’re going to fight it. Story on ESPN.
What are the rumors?

Allegedly had sex with a student, based on the Internet rumors.

If so, it is interesting that they are going with "drank booze in his office" to save everyone some embarrassment. I guess ADs are going to save these relatively minor things for if they are ever needed.

Drinking on the job- not a serious offense but he was mid and now they get out of his contract

LOSING is the biggest offense in coaching. I have no doubt that if Michigan were in the CFP this weekend Moore would not have been fired. But, I'm sure there were some major donors/boosters that saw an opportunity to boot him without having to pay a buyout....so they took advantage. Just like Michigan St did with Mel Tucker.

The demon rum got ahold of him

I don’t understand how people in these jobs are so fricking stupid.

Perhaps, but they were 8-4 and 6-2 in conference. That usually doesn’t get you fired in year 1 in the MAC.
There’s a possibility that the drinking was really bad

I’ll bet $500 that isn’t what actually happened and that this was to cover for a more serious issue.

It was drinking and a Sean Payton type drug issue. And he had been given several chances.
A lot o lefties want to invoke racism by comparing this to Moore.

Idk knocking up a staffer allegedly and paying for the abortion is pretty hard-core stuff... hard to turn the head on that.

Are you really stumped on why football people are dumb?

Depends. Lot of variables here....
Was he just cracking open 1 or 2 beers towards the end of a long night at the office or was he drinking hard liquor and getting hammered at the football facility?
Did they catch him leaving the football facility in an intoxicated state and then driving himself? DUI plus it being DUI on school property. And is his car provided by the university?

They are 8-4. 3 losses were by 1 score, and the other was to Ohio State. It’s a MAC team. I mean, I guess they were better last year, but 8-4 is solid.

Not like it’s just football coaches who do this stupid shite.

Serious question, because I don't know. Is have a consensual relationship with co-worker impermissible at most/all universities? As in if it is discovered that such relationship exists (or did at one time exists) it results in an automatic termination and/or one in the relationship having to resign?
In and of itself, having a consensual relationship between adults is not a crime. Nor is consensual sex between to adults. Abortion may or may not be illegal (depending on the state).
Obviously, there are some moral questions raised by cheating on your spouse and/or paying for an abortion. But does that alone automatically result in a firing, no questions asked? If not, then it seems to be up to the university to determine what conduct (even if immoral) will be tolerated. For example, I doubt Georgia would immediately fire Kirby Smart if it came to light he was fooling around with his secretary.

If they’re a subordinate, yes.
If they’re not, there is typically an obligation to disclose.
If it’s a student, also yes, almost certainly going to be against the code of conduct as an employee of the university

Oh well yeah, that’ll do it.
