Young Frederick Trump left Germany as a barber's apprentice for America and started out in New York. Within days he was working. He did not ever live off of the government dole.

It is quite a story. Frederick made tons of money during the later stages of the west coast gold rush and had the foresight to send money back east for investments in New York real estate.

Barron Trump has an uncanny resemblance to Frederick, his great-grandfather!

Well here we can see the Soeteros erecting a wall around their house to keep folks out.

I wish documentarians could just tell a story without all of the slant. The conjecture used in an otherwise great American success story really killed the credibility of the entire thing.

For example, it was not uncommon for boomtown hotels and cafes to let rooms to prostitutes in those years, therefore - with zero evidence- they suggest several times that Frederick Trump could have been a pimp. JFC.

Another was his efforts to move back to Germany, now in his late 30’s, a naturalized American citizen, and married with two children. The new German federation, at a time when Europe is set to explode into World War, attempts to force military conscription on him and he petitions the government for an exception. He fails and opts to move his family back to New York. The documentary paints him as a draft dodger.

Then his son Fred, taking over and growing the family real estate business during a time of tremendous post-depression growth, painted as nothing more than a man greedily capitalizing on New Deal programs.

The best was the throw away comment at the end that Donald was essentially a failed real estate investor who reinvented himself into a game show host and then president of the United States.

FIFY

Wouldn't the father's grandfather be the son's great-grandfather?

Muh Druuuuuumpfff

lol

This attack always made me laugh because it shows an overt ignorance of history, genealogy, migration, language barriers, bigotry, and illiteracy of the period.

I thought the doc did a good job of outlining how the name had begun to morph prior to Frederick’s move to America and how the current spelling was set before the German bigotry of the post WWI era. So the lefty narratives that Frederick changed his name to presumably evade a criminal past or avoid military service in Germany (or Anglicize it to mask his German heritage) were just lies. Frederick emigrated at 16 as Frederick Trumpf (his German birth certificate actually uses the current Trump spelling).

They would describe Washington as a pathetic slave-owning liar and destroyer of fruit trees.

An extremely wealthy family in England back in the 1700s was the Bankheads. Some of their kids moved to the new world in colonial America. Years later they produced a girl named Tallulah...

And as a German immigrant in the 19th century, he was probably treated like shite, just like the Irish.

He still rolled up his sleeves and built a legacy. There are no excuses for not succeeding in today’s America.

I see your point “Vacherie Saint” and your correct, but I’ll go a little further.

The birthright for a “TRUMPF”, is automatic Pimp Status,

the’ve been PIMPING for Centuries, grabbing democrats by the pussies is their past time & family’s heritage.

Just own it! I’ve seen a similar documentary years ago that showed the grandfathers pioneering talents & he was relentless.

He literally floated the hotel/building on rivers to get it where he wanted it & parked it right in between the 2 busiest stores on the strip. And his property became the premier spot.
