America 2025: Rhode Island (Brown University) press conference- Spanish being spoken

This country is so far gone.
Rhode Island- freaking Rhode Island- has a Latino sheriff and high enough population that require a Spanish translation of the information being spoken.
This is just a microcosm of how far the America many of us grew up is effectively GONE.

Exactly. And we are not talking about a state that I associate with Latinos.
This country resembles nothing close to what it was even going back just to the mid 90s.

I know that they speak Portuguese not Spanish. I was referring to the comment about large Hispanic population. However Google says people from Portugal are not Hispanic…seems strange since the country is essentially carved out of Spanish peninsula.

I have often wondered about this and have researched some.
Interesting history with those.
I guess it would be like South LA being its own state versus North LA.
I don't know why they would not be considered Hispanic, though.
The Latin Language originated from Italy and yet Italians are not considered Latin as a race. Things that make you go hmmm.
