Who uses these services? I don't see the appeal. Even if it was a few extra bucks, I don't think I would use it that often.

Given the fact that both are worth over 100 billion dollars with little liability exposure, I’d say they have a better feel than you on market demands.

I used DD to supplement our income for 2 to 3 years from 2019 - 2021.
Most deliveries are to apartments or duplexes.
Lots of young people.
Sometimes there’d be a huge family order, those were outliers. They tipped the best.
You learn very quickly to not take orders less than a specific amount because they didn’t tip and usually they are the ones to complain. Not worth the headache.

I've never ordered food delivery, except pizza directly from the pizza provider. Never from a third-party.

Had a co-worker order almost daily from DD and when he got his order he would put in a complaint saying either something was missing or they got the order wrong. At the time it was just an automatic refund and no verification was needed. He never paid for a meal for quite some time.

Not having to leave the house and/or not having to stop what I'm doing. Best case scenario we're talking 15-20 minutes, but in my experience, it's usually closer to 30+ minutes. Drive there, wait for the food, check out, drive home.

Correct. We also aren't talking about a ton of money. I'm not Dashing Le Bernardin where that 30% matters to me. I'm dashing sushi for my wife and me and paying someone $6 to drive there, wait for it, pick it up, and deliver it to my door. That $6 is trivial to me and easily worth just being able to continue doing whatever it was I was doing.

Let's say I'm slammed at work and don't have time to drive across town for lunch.
Let's say it's a dreary day and I don't feel like cooking and making a mess, and just want to watch movies with the family.
I don't mind paying extra to avoid spending my time driving and waiting and fighting traffic.

Ive seen door dashers roll through the neighborhood in brand new $90k SUV. Often its a husband / wife in the drivers seat and one will waddle out with a bag of chicken nuggets, take a photo of it on the porch and waddle back.

We use a meal delivery service about once per week, on average. It can’t be an every day thing, but we can usually snag a two for one entree offer if we are flexible about the place from which we order. Plus our credit cards give us a monthly credit towards them.

I can never figure out if the ot is poor or ballers. Ya'll cry about door dash fees amd crawfish prices but buy a hundred thousand dollar ford.
